CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: More on the governor now in this morning's "Talk of CNN" where we ask what's the buzz at the water cooler this morning? Want to check in with "The Dave Ryan in the Morning Show," 101.3 KDWB Minneapolis St. Paul -- good morning.
DAVE RYAN, KDWB RADIO: Hello, Carol.

ANGI TAYLOR, KDWB RADIO: Morning.

RYAN: How are you?

COSTELLO: I'm fine.

RYAN: Good.

COSTELLO: So are people bummed there that Governor Ventura is not running again?

RYAN: Actually, no, it's just the opposite. It's really -- it's really kind of funny. We -- you know living in Minnesota, whenever I go back home to Colorado or I go visit friends in Ohio, wherever, they always go hey, how about that wacky governor you have back there and they think it's really kind of cool. Well they don't have to live with him as the governor of their state. Actually, people in Minnesota, there's a certain people -- a percentage of people that like Jesse, and he's not a bad guy; but we're not really proud of what he's done as governor.

COSTELLO: Are you kind of embarrassed now?

TAYLOR: I think we're...

RYAN: I didn't vote for him, Carol.

TAYLOR: Yes. I...

RYAN: I'm not. Angi did vote for him.

TAYLOR: I voted for him. When Jesse was up for election, I think it was during a time of it was like you know Clinton scandal time and I think everything else that was out there was just not good. And it was more of a, you know, we just wanted to vote for him just to prove that we were sick and tired of what was being offered to us. And yes, I mean there's some embarrassing things. He had a real opportunity to do a lot of great things that he didn't really do and put Minnesota on the map. He put us on the map, but maybe not for what we would have liked to have been put on it for.

RYAN: Exactly (ph).

COSTELLO: Exact -- well let me ask you this, he says he's not running because the media there was relentless. They covered him, like he said, even when he went to the bathroom.

RYAN: That's probably true. I mean he was a fascinating governor because he was the first governor that if you were in California, who could normally name Minnesota's governor in California, for example? I couldn't. I don't think I could name like Arizona's governor right now unless it was a celebrity. So he was very popular and the media did hound him a lot, but you know he should have expected that.

TAYLOR: He gave the media a lot of...

RYAN: Fodder.

TAYLOR: ... food.

RYAN: Yes,...

TAYLOR: Yes, exactly.

RYAN: ... he really did.

COSTELLO: Yes, he did; and we enjoyed it, didn't we?

RYAN: We sure did.

COSTELLO: Let's talk -- let's talk about "American Idol" and reality TV.

RYAN: Love it.

COSTELLO: Why?

RYAN: Why, because you know what I tell you I really love watching this show. And I'm really out of their demo for watching the show, Carol. But me and my family, we watch this show religiously. We call and we vote. I don't know why, it's just so fascinating to see.

COSTELLO: So did you vote Tamyra off?

RYAN: No, actually last night we voted for Kelly. We really like Kelly. I think she's going to be -- she's going to take it all.

COSTELLO: So what do they do tonight, they cut one more person?

RYAN: Yes.

TAYLOR: They cut one more and then...

RYAN: This... TAYLOR: ... it's down to two.

RYAN: ... clown that's singing right now, that's Justin, and he needs to go. He needs to go to a Vegas lounge act. He's actually talented, but is he "American Idol" material, I don't know. Kelly is the one that we really want to -- we really want to see win.

COSTELLO: And she's the real cute, wholesome looking gal?

RYAN: Yes.

TAYLOR: Decent gal (ph), yes.

RYAN: Yes. The other one -- the other one is Nikki, and she's talented too but just not exactly I don't think "American Idol" material.

COSTELLO: Oh no, I know we're -- we've been getting e-mails about Nikki, actually, and one woman said if they don't vote Nikki off the show I'm going to storm the set.

RYAN: Yes, Nikki needs to go. I mean they're all talented, but they -- you know you're going to pick one, it's got to be Kelly.

COSTELLO: OK. Thank you guys for joining us. And you're going to join us every Wednesday morning, and we're very excited about that.

RYAN: So are we, Carol, thank you very much.

COSTELLO: Yes! OK, bye, Dave and Angi.

TAYLOR: Thank you, Carol.

RYAN: Bye-bye.
