(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Step forward, Nikki. Nikki, America has eliminated you tonight.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Oh, and then there were two. Nikki McKibbin got the boot from the hit show "American Idol" last night. She had the fewest phone in votes from fans. Only Justin and Kelly remain. They face off next week to settle once and for all who is the real American idol.

Tonight's MTV Video Music Awards is all the talk of the entertainment industry, too. Oh, yes. Our friend Tracy St. George of Atlanta's Q100 Radio is here with some predictions.

Good morning, Tracy.

TRACY ST. GEORGE, Q-100, ATLANTA: Good morning. How are you?

COSTELLO: Should we touch on "American Idol" for just a second?

ST. GEORGE: OK.

COSTELLO: I was surprised.

ST. GEORGE: You know, it was so funny because she was like gnawing on her tongue ring and everything. She felt so bad.

COSTELLO: Gnawing on her tongue ring?

ST. GEORGE: Yes. That's what I think they do when they get nervous, they chew on that tongue ring.

COSTELLO: You know, that's what I do.

ST. GEORGE: Actually, I find myself doing that quite often, too.

COSTELLO: Anyway, a lot of people thought Nikki should have gone before Tamyra?

ST. GEORGE: Right. Exactly. But, you know, it's just how the votes come, so you just have to, you know, what public likes week by week. You never know what you're going to get.

COSTELLO: It's all up to the public. OK, let's move on to the MTV Video Show Awards -- Video Awards Show.

ST. GEORGE: Yes.

COSTELLO: I cannot believe in 1984 that Bette Midler and Dan Akroyd were the hosts.

ST. GEORGE: I know, first show, and they were great. They came out as the moon man, which is now the coveted prize to win, and they were the hosts. It was so great. I remember that show way back when.

COSTELLO: Bette Midler.

ST. GEORGE: Yes.

COSTELLO: Way back when. It seems like so square now that they would be the hosts of MTV.

ST. GEORGE: It does seem a little square with Dan Akroyd. But how can you say square about Bette Midler? Our Bette. We love her.

COSTELLO: We do love Bette.

OK, who's the host this time?

ST. GEORGE: Jimmy Fallon from "Saturday Night Live." I love him. He's so funny. The best thing about him is he laughs at himself all the time. He's so fun. He actually hosted it, the movie awards with Kirsten Dunst last year. So he's already hosted it. He knows what's to be expected, so it's going to be a really great show.

COSTELLO: We hope so, anyway.

ST. GEORGE: Yes.

COSTELLO: It's always bizarre. So do you think there will be any surprise winners?

ST. GEORGE: I think there's going to be a surprise performance tonight, but I don't know about surprise winners. But...

COSTELLO: What do you mean by a surprise performance?

ST. GEORGE: Well, my sources are telling me again that Justin Timberlake is going to have a surprise duet person come on with him because tonight he's doing a solo performance of his song "Like I Love You," which I love that song. Last week I told you I didn't think he could carry it himself. I think he can. That song is great. Q100 is playing it exclusively.

COSTELLO: It's only one song.

ST. GEORGE: It's great.

COSTELLO: And might the duet partner be Britney Spears? ST. GEORGE: That's what we're kind of thinking. We're thinking maybe Britney, maybe Puffy is going to come out or something. But I hope it's Britney. That would be...

COSTELLO: Oh, wouldn't that be cool?

ST. GEORGE: That would definitely be cool, yes.

COSTELLO: Yes.

OK, let's move on to the awards.

ST. GEORGE: OK.

COSTELLO: And there are too many to get to all of them, but we'll try.

ST. GEORGE: OK.

COSTELLO: Eminem.

ST. GEORGE: I think, he is up for a lot of awards. I think he's going to win a lot of stuff because as much as I don't want to really like Eminem, I like this CD. It's really, "Without Me," the one that he's doing with Dr. Dre in the video, very fun, very cool and it's not so I hate everyone.

COSTELLO: Dark?

ST. GEORGE: Yes, so much.

COSTELLO: It's not so I hate my mom, want to kill her?

ST. GEORGE: Right. Well, he does say a swear word to her. So he's sending a real shout out to his mom.

COSTELLO: Well, you can't have all the shock taken out.

ST. GEORGE: Exactly.

COSTELLO: Female video?

ST. GEORGE: I think Britney's going to get it. But if it was a tie, I think Shaquira would get it, too. But I think Britney Spears. I'm going to, "I'm A Slave For You," I think that's a good one. She sang that last year, actually, with this really big snake. So it was kind of creepy, but very cool.

COSTELLO: Oh, yes.

Group video?

ST. GEORGE: 'N Sync for sure with "Nellie, Girlfriend."

COSTELLO: Oh, man.

Dance video?

ST. GEORGE: Britney Spears, "I'm A Slave For You."

COSTELLO: Oh, jeez.

ST. GEORGE: Did you see that? It's really good. She did an awesome job dancing. It was absolutely incredible. It's a great video.

COSTELLO: Haven't we overdosed on her, though?

ST. GEORGE: No. We can never overdose on Britney.

COSTELLO: Oh, come on.

Pop video?

ST. GEORGE: I think Pink, "Get The Party Started."

COSTELLO: Oh, I love Pink.

ST. GEORGE: That is just fun -- yes. And it's a fun party video and she's definitely getting the party started tonight.

COSTELLO: Now, she is a strong female role model.

ST. GEORGE: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: We like her.

ST. GEORGE: Yes.

COSTELLO: A rebel.

R&B video?

ST. GEORGE: J-Lo, just because I love her. I don't care who else is in the running there, but J-Lo is going to win it with "I'm Real."

COSTELLO: Oh, you're crazy.

New artist?

ST. GEORGE: New artist, I think Avril Lavigne. Huge. She just came out of nowhere and she's at, her clothes are actually going to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a little exhibit.

COSTELLO: You're kidding? Isn't it too soon for that?

ST. GEORGE: Oh, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think that's going to be the one. I think she's going to win that. And best new artist from last year was Alicia Keys, and usually they kind of disappear. But she's actually on tour tonight in Baltimore.

COSTELLO: So who will be the best new artist this time? ST. GEORGE: I think it's going to be Avril.

COSTELLO: Oh, OK.

ST. GEORGE: Avril Lavigne.

COSTELLO: OK. Got you.

Thank you so much, Tracy, for stopping by. We enjoy it every single time you're here.

ST. GEORGE: Of course.

COSTELLO: And you'll be back with us next week.

ST. GEORGE: It sounds great. Thanks.

COSTELLO: Cool.
