CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Time now for this morning's "Talk of CNN." Yes, we have more for you, and the D.J.s from "The Bert Show" on Q100 radio right here in Atlanta join us by phone.
Good morning, guys, welcome back from vacation.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you. Morning, Carol. Good morning, Chad. That is a scarring picture you just showed.

CHAD MYERS, CNN METEOROLOGIST: It is.

COSTELLO: Isn't that scary?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's probably right back to 1983.

COSTELLO: I know. Exactly, a year we don't want to go back to.

Hey, let's talk about this high tech way to avoid child abduction. I like this idea.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, it seems like you can't turn TV on anymore without hearing, you know, another really, really sad case of child abduction. And there's one company now that's doing something about it.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, there's a company that's developed a chip. It's actually -- it's about the size of half of a playing card and it's about a half-inch thick, and you would actually implant it in the chest of your child. And this chip is a global positioning system. It's...

COSTELLO: Wow!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So you can at all times log onto a computer and using a user name and password locate your kid should something happen to him or her or...

MYERS: Wow!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... if they're just at the mall a little too long.

COSTELLO: Well I hear there's so much interest in Britain about this that before Christmas they're supposedly going to have one of these chips available to parents.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Before Christmastime?

COSTELLO: Before December, that's what it said in the article.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well I can understand -- as a guy -- you know I -- my wife is seven-and-a-half months pregnant right now, and I would seriously consider getting one of these things.

COSTELLO: Really?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I absolutely would. And in fact, he's going to wear it until he's 35.

(LAUGHTER)

COSTELLO: I'm sure he'll appreciate that, too.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If you don't want to do the whole -- if you don't want to do the surgery and put the chip in your -- in your child's chest, there's actually also a bracelet that will go around that will have the device hanging on the bracelet and the bracelet locks on.

COSTELLO: Oh, it locks on so you can't easily remove it...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right.

COSTELLO: ... because that would sort of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

Hey, let's talk about "American Idol" because tonight's the big night when they -- I guess they compete with one another, the two finalists.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, we were really kind of bummed over the last couple of weeks because we had some Atlanta finalists here, R.J. Helton and Tamyra Gray. So we were really following very closely because obviously they're from Atlanta. But it seems like there's one contestant left here, Justin, that has kind of an Atlanta tie-in.

LINDSAY BRIEN, Q100, "THE BERT SHOW": Yes, his dad's actually been the police chief or actually was on the police force here for 33 years, and he lived here until he was about 5 years old. We're talking about Justin Guarini. And he's been spending his summers back in Atlanta, and his father is the biggest supporter of "American Idol."

COSTELLO: Does his father have similar hair?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well,...

BRIEN: You see his father every week, he's the one that's up and dancing every time Justin sings. So you'll see him tonight.

COSTELLO: Oh God. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And did you know this, too, Carol, that his mom was a CNN anchor at one time?

COSTELLO: We were trying to figure this out, which one?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is it possible that her name was Kathy Bell (ph)?

BRIEN: Right.

COSTELLO: Kathy Bell, well she's not here anymore, if it -- if it indeed was Kathy Bell. But we will check into that because we did not know that here at CNN.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, it's true.

COSTELLO: Wow!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Justin's mom is actually Anderson Cooper.

(LAUGHTER)

COSTELLO: You never know.

Hey, who do you think will win? Isn't this like a shoo-in for the gal?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm going with Kelly.

BRIEN: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But you know you've got to remember who calls in for this thing, it's mostly 12 and 13-year-old girls and they love this guy Justin.

BRIEN: Yes, I think that if when you're defining an American idol, I think Justin fits that, you know, American Idol description far better than Kelly does.

COSTELLO: Oh one more thing before I let you guys go, we have to talk about Lance Bass. He ain't going up into space.

BRIEN: No.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, we just found this out today as we were watching you guys. And it turns out that he's not going up so they're just filling his space with another box of cargo.

MYERS: Oh no.

COSTELLO: Exactly, he's being replaced with a cargo container.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That's a little...

COSTELLO: Apparently he couldn't raise the money. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, well we -- the last report we had I think he had a press conference over the weekend where he said yes, things are fine,...

COSTELLO: Right.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: ... I got all the money, I can't wait to go to space. And then we turned you guys on this morning and said he didn't come up with the cash.

COSTELLO: That's why it's always important to watch CNN.

(LAUGHTER)

COSTELLO: OK, thank you very much to our friends at Q100 "The Bert Show," we appreciate it. We'll catch you next week.
