CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We want to head to our nation's capital right now and turn our attention to our Washington deputy bureau chief, Steve Redisch. He's on the phone with us, too.
Good morning -- Steve.

STEVE REDISCH, CNN WASHINGTON DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF: Good morning, Carol.

COSTELLO: President Bush has a lot on his schedule today. He's going to meet with the Canadian president or prime minister.

REDISCH: He's going to meet with Prime Minister Jean Chretien up in Detroit today. Among the -- you know, border security, you know, the war on terrorism, but also an opportunity to talk about Iraq. So far, the Canadians are not quite on board with the president's plan, as are few nations, and Chretien has said that so far, he has not seen the evidence needed to go after Iraq right now.

COSTELLO: Well, it will be interesting to see if this London study enters into the picture today at all.

Also, there is a big ceremony at the Kennedy Center tonight?

REDISCH: Tonight, they are going to tape for playback on September 11 "A "Concert for America 2000." It's a two-hour tribute to what happened on 9/11. Among the people who are going to be performing: Placido Domingo, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Gloria Estefan. The first lady is the co-chair of the event.

COSTELLO: And there's also a big report coming out from a group representing the victims of September 11. What will that entail, do you think?

REDISCH: It's going to be basically a report card of how President Bush and other administration officials and congressional leaders have responded to the terrorist threats and improving the nation's security. It's being headed by Steven Push (ph). He's the chairman of the group called Families and Victims of September 11, and his wife died on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon.

COSTELLO: Well, it should be interesting.

Hey, let's talk about something good, before I let you go. I know this wasn't on the agenda, but we have to talk Redskins for just a bit, because they were impressive yesterday. REDISCH: The old ball coach sure pitched it around. Everybody expected him to have a path on the first down, and actually he handed it off, and he said, well, they weren't playing the right defense, and we decided to hand it off and run on the first. But they looked very good. Their defense was a little bit suspect, but as people say, it just needs some time to gel. But the offense sure did look good.

COSTELLO: Oh, it was amazing. And Steve Spurrier, I hear he was injured when he angrily threw his headset to the ground. There is a big gash on his hands now.

REDISCH: You know, I can relate.

COSTELLO: Exactly. Thank you, Steve Redisch. We'll let you get to work. We appreciate it.

REDISCH: Bye-bye.
