ATF on Scene in Florida

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Let's get back to Florida right now. We're getting word again now that the authorities who responded to apparently two different cars late last night, 1:00 a.m. Eastern time, are getting ready to detonate some sort of device and some sort of material that were taken inside from inside of one of those vehicles.
All this going down essentially at daybreak today, with the news coming into us here that apparently late last night a woman in Calhoun, Georgia, well north of this location here, overheard a conversation, apparently. She alleges that three men were talking about a terrorist plot aimed at Miami, Florida.

The facts as we have them right now. A 20 mile stretch of I-75, Alligator Alley, just east of Naples, Florida, has been shut down. Authorities have responded, including ATF officials. They're on the scene, as well.

One car was stopped and then after that car was stopped, another car pulled up from behind. That car, too, has been stopped. What we don't know right now is how many men have been apprehended, how many men are being held right now.

But the bomb sniffing dogs have responded and apparently they took a positive hit on both vehicles. That's our understanding, anyway.

Again, the facts continue to change quite often, but this we know is a live picture and we do know there's a no fly zone with the exception of this helicopter that's giving us the pictures here through WFOR.

When we get more information, certainly we'll bring it to you. But what we know right now is that authorities have responded. What they have, we'll find out soon enough.

Back in a moment on AMERICAN MORNING.
