KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Breaking news out of San Jose, California. We're getting word that a jury has convicted Cary Stayner of killing three Yosemite Park tourists. They have found him sane. Jurors next will determine whether he gets the death sentence. In case you need a reminder of why this case has been so important, Cary Stayner, a former hotel handyman, had been convicted of first-degree murder and other charges related to the killings of Eureka resident Carole Sund, 42, her daughter Juli, 15, and their Argentinian (ph) friend, Silvina Pelosso, 16.
The former handyman had talked his way into their El Porto (ph) motel room, strangled Sund and Silvina, then sexually assaulted Juli for hours before cutting her throat. It was a gruesome case that we covered just a couple of years ago back in 1999.

Once again, the jury convicting Cary Stayner of killing three Yosemite Park tourists. They find him sane. Jurors next will determine whether he gets the death sentence.
