KRIS OSBORN, CNN ANCHOR: A suicide bombing in Tel Aviv today. Police in the northern Israeli city say a city bus driver tried to block the bomber from boarding the crowded vehicle, and that may have saved the lives of many of its passengers.
For the latest on this, let's check in now with CNN's Mike Hanna.

So, Mike, thus far, at least five killed, many more injured. Report the explosion was enormous. What do you know as late as right now.

MIKE HANNA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: As you look at the moment, Tel Aviv (ph) Street, right in the middle of Tel Aviv, returning to normal, but a few hours ago, this was a scene of utter devastation. A man stepped aboard a bus here detonated an explosive device, before he was inside of the bus process. Five people killed in the initial blast, well over 60 people injured, some of them in a very serious condition, and to the streets absolutely crowded at this time of the day, filled with people having lunch, filled with people shopping.

This is what an eyewitness, a shop keeper over here, Tiran Solomon saw with the explosion.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TIRAN SOLOMON, WITNESS: The minute I heard the explosion, I went outside to see what was going on. I saw the bodies -- so I understand it was, like, a big explosion. And I saw the bodies and now I feel half a man like my legs cannot move and my hands -- it's terrible, absolutely terrible.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HANNA: This now the second suicide bomb attack in a 48-hour period. Yesterday, there was an explosion in northern Israel in which an Israeli police officer was killed. Now five Israelis killed in the very heart of Tel Aviv. This ends the five-week period in which there was a comparative sense of calm within Israel during which there were no bomb attacks directed against Israeli civilians. The fear now, though, that a new terror offensive aimed at Israeli offenses is underway.

Back to you.

OSBRON: Mike Hanna, live in Tel Aviv, thank you for that report.
