CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Israeli forces are destroying buildings in Yasser Arafat's Ramallah compound and rounding up Palestinians. This is apparently in retaliation for yesterday's suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, which killed five people.
We want to head out to that region right now. Our Ben Wedeman is joining us live from Jerusalem now -- good morning.

BEN WEDEMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Yes, good morning, Carol.

Actually, the death toll from the suicide bombing yesterday has now reached six. The latest victim being a 17-year-old British subject who was here in Israel studying. He has died from wounds sustained in that blast.

Now, as you mentioned, overnight the Israeli forces entered the compound of president -- Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat where they have been involved in the demolishing of several buildings, the very few buildings, actually, after several incursions into Ramallah. Several -- most buildings have been destroyed, but the last few, it appears, are being demolished today. Earlier in the morning, the barracks for security -- Palestinian security was blown up. And around midday today, Palestinian -- the Palestinian intelligence headquarters within the compound was destroyed.

Overnight, the Israelis called for the surrender of about 20 Palestinians they say are on their wanted list for individuals involved in terrorist activity against Israel. Around 20 Palestinians in fact did surrender overnight, but several of them, we are told by Palestinian sources, were in fact imprisoned within the compound accused of collaboration with Israel.

Now also overnight, one Palestinian security -- a member of security was killed by, we are told by Palestinian sources, by Israeli snipers. There Israeli forces were also involved in action overnight in Gaza, entering suburbs of Gaza City where they have been destroying workshops they say were involved in the production of weapons and explosives used against Israelis. Two Palestinian civilians killed in that action overnight.

And of course this follows the bus bombing yesterday in Tel Aviv, after which the Israeli cabinet met in a rare full session. There they blamed the Palestinian leader for the continuing violence, saying that he will be isolated until further notice -- Carol.
