MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: A Texas man wanted to keep his truck from being stolen so badly that he stayed inside of the truck bed during the 30-minute chase.
Reporter Jeremy Diesel of KHOU in Houston has more on this incredible carjacking call.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEREMY DIESEL, KHOU REPORTER (voice-over): Nathan David would do anything for his truck.

NATHAN DAVIS, TRUCK OWNER: I saw these two guys heads inside the truck, and by the time I noticed what was going on, they had already started the engine.

DIESEL: I said anything -- grabbing on to the side to stop the thieves.

DAVIS: I actually was holding on here, and he was dragging me.

DIESEL: So he jumps in the bed, whips out his cell phone, calls 911. Time to hang on, really hang on. First, north on 45, then south, then 610, all fast, all of the time, talking to 911.

DAVIS: Believe it or not, you are pretty secure back there. I mean, I wasn't flying around or anything. I kept bobbing up to make sure I saw where we were so I could keep the dispatcher informed.

DIESEL: He did just that, for 20 miles, hanging on tight, until the truck approached Telephone at 45 south.

DAVIS: I could tell once I saw them that they were some little young punks, and you know, there were probably more afraid than I was actually once I got on the back of the truck.

DIESEL: Two suspects take of on foot to another truck, ride in it a short while, then bailout on foot again. One caught a short time later, police still looking for another.

Simply an amazing scene, one even police can't believe.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: May look good on TV, but it's not something anyone would ever want to try.

DIESEL: Not something Nathan Davis will be trying again anytime soon. Still... DAVIS: I spent my hard-earned money for that. They were not going to take it that easy.

DIESEL: Nothing easy in this wild ride.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

DAVIS: Nathan. Nathan. Kids, don't try that at home. That report from Jeremy Diesel of KHOU and a rather rainy Houston.
