LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: President Bush continues trying to get his own ducks in a row on Iraq. He is in Trenton, New Jersey, today, where he's heading up a party fund-raiser.
Our White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux has been traveling with the president. Let's check in with her now.

Good morning, Suzanne.

SUZANNE MALVEAUX, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Leon.

You will have to excuse the noise here. The president just spoke before schoolchildren and members of the National Guard, again, using the bully pulpit to make his case against Saddam Hussein. The message very clear from the administration that weapons inspectors for the United Nations cannot go back inside Iraq until there is a tough new U.N. resolution holding Saddam Hussein accountable.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: I want to see strong resolutions coming out of the U.N., a resolution which says the old ways of deceit are gone, a resolution which will hold this man to account, a resolution which will allow freedom-loving countries to disarm Saddam Hussein before he threatens his neighborhood, before he threatens freedom, before he threatens America and before he threatens civilization. We owe it to our children.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: Now the president, again, making the message very clear, that the United States will do it with or without the world community. The United Nations, of course, as you know, Leon, secretary of defense Making that argument to NATO members. Also Secretary Powell making that same argument to the United Nations, that they would like the cooperation of the world community, but the president, again, making it clear that the United States will go it alone, making perhaps preemptive action if necessary, and the president in his own move anticipating the Democrats will be pounding him in the next several weeks before midterm elections all of the economy, taking up that very issue, reminding voters that the administration inherited this recession, that it was the tax relief he argued that helped jumpstart the economy once again.

And also pushing for critical issues, to Republicans, to the GOP, namely talking about the need for terrorism insurance, as well as tax relief. Also, I guess, taking the opportunity to blast Democrats in the Senate for not passing his version of homeland security -- Leon.

HARRIS: All right, we need to let you go so you can get some ear security there someplace.

Suzanne Malveaux being deluged by the noise there in Trenton, New Jersey. We'll let you go. Thanks, Suzanne.
