CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: OK, it's time to check out the buzz in the Granite State this Monday morning.
Mark Ericson and Danielle Carrier, better known as the WOKQ Waking Crew in Portsmouth and Manchester, New Hampshire, on the phone.

Hi guys.

MARK ERICSON, WOKQ MORNING WAKING CREW: Good morning -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Hey, welcome to DAYBREAK.

ERICSON: Well thank you very much. And you've destroyed Danielle because her last name is Carrier and like she's your biggest fan in the whole world.

DANIELLE CARRIER, WOKQ MORNING WAKING CREW: I'm like a huge fan.

COSTELLO: Oh, I'm so sorry. I'll make it up to you somehow, some way, I will.

CARRIER: Every time you guys go away, I have to go through withdrawals.

(LAUGHTER)

ERICSON: It's terrible.

COSTELLO: Oh that's so awesome, and I'm so sorry about that.

CARRIER: That's all right (ph).

COSTELLO: Hey, tell us about the mystery of Travis Tritt and why he canceled a sold out show.

ERICSON: Well he was scheduled to appear at the Hampton Beach Casino ballroom this Saturday night and Danielle and I were scheduled to open the show. And early in the morning Saturday, we got word that Travis had a sore throat.

CARRIER: Sore throat.

COSTELLO: Uh-oh.

ERICSON: And we started getting some phone calls and started checking around. And if you go to the "Tennessean" Web site, which is the "Gannett" newspaper in Nashville, turns out that somehow Travis has gotten himself involved with some nasty people apparently in Nashville and the Nashville Police have got a couple of people in custody that say they were involved in a plot to kill Travis Tritt.

COSTELLO: You've got to be kidding.

CARRIER: No.

ERICSON: No, there was a plot of -- to kill Travis Tritt, according to these court documents now in Nashville.

COSTELLO: So who were these nasty people he got involved with?

ERICSON: Well one of these guys apparently is a former member of the witness protection program. I'm not sure how you get out of that club, but...

CARRIER: He said he ran out of money.

ERICSON: He said he ran out of money so he had to hop out of the witness protection program and go back to being a bad guy. His name is Marvin Droznek, according to the "Tennessean," but he's also known as Marvin Drake. Apparently the witness protection program doesn't spend a lot of time and effort coming up with fake names.

(LAUGHTER)

COSTELLO: So Travis Tritt was actually getting death threats allegedly from this guy...

CARRIER: He actually never heard of the death threats until they got a tip from only known as "The Source."

ERICSON: Right, the Nashville Police have somebody else who was acting as a tipster who is the alleged hit man in all of this. And Travis Tritt, as near as we can tell, because his bus was supposed to show up in Hampton Beach early Saturday morning, as near as we can tell, somewhere around 1:00 in the morning on Saturday he went in to hiding somewhere. He's in a cave right now.

CHAD MYERS, CNN METEOROLOGIST: He took his Harley on a three-day cruise.

(LAUGHTER)

ERICSON: He's unavailable -- he's unavailable for comment, and all of his -- all of his people are saying he had a sore throat. Of course he did.

COSTELLO: Oh yes.

ERICSON: And the funny thing is, five years ago or thereabouts, he was scheduled to do an outdoor show here in New Hampshire and it was not quite a hurricane but it was real close and nasty, nasty weather forced the cancellation of that show. So...

COSTELLO: Well I don't think he's going to be coming back to your part.

ERICSON: No.

COSTELLO: Hey, Mark -- hey, Mark and Danielle, we have to go now, and thank you so much. And I -- and I so apologize, Danielle, for getting your name wrong.

CARRIER: It's all right, I'm over it now.

COSTELLO: I'll never do it again.

CARRIER: Thank you.

COSTELLO: We'll talk to you again next week.
