CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: The crew from the morning team of Atlanta's Q100 "The Bert Show" have come up with a rather surprising discovery for our segment, the Talk of CNN.
Good morning, guys.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Good morning, Carol. How are you?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Good morning.

COSTELLO: I'm pretty good.

This is "The Bert Show" we're talking to this morning. And oh my gosh, what have they done to Barbie?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, things will never be the same again, right?

COSTELLO: Oh, you're not kidding.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Do you remember when you were growing up, there was like a Dream Glow Barbie. There was Malibu...

COSTELLO: Malibu Barbie.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Holiday Barbie. Yes, now there's Lingerie Barbie.

COSTELLO: Lingerie -- are you kidding about this?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is absolutely the truth. It's totally for real. It's the new, it's in the new FAO Schwarz catalog. And it's "Lingerie Barbie." And here's the description. Get this. "Exudes a flirtatious attitude in her heavenly merry widow bustier ensemble, accented with intricate lace and matching peek-a-boo peignoir." Hello.

COSTELLO: Unbelievable. This is in the FAO Schwarz catalog for kids?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's the brand new Barbie what you have there on TV right now.

COSTELLO: You mean any kid like five years old can run out and get "Lingerie Barbie?" UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Absolutely.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, I don't think they're carding. So, yes.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Exactly. Yes, so the thing is, you know, parents won't let their kids watch certain things on television, but they'll buy this new, you know, "Lingerie Barbie" for their child.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right.

COSTELLO: Does she have different outfits to put on, different lingerie?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: As far as I know, this is the only one, just the sexy black. They haven't come out with red or white yet.

COSTELLO: I like her come hither hairdo, too.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Isn't that something else? I mean this is what your kids are playing with now.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Come hither.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The come hither Barbie. Just like that.

COSTELLO: It's just, it's just unbelievable to me. I'm just stunned. I don't even know what to say. Why are they doing this, do you suppose?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don't know. It just really kind of shows you, it's a sign of the times, though, isn't it?

COSTELLO: A sign of the times for a 5-year-old girl?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, I think, also, if you go into a toy store years ago, Barbie was probably the premier doll. And nowadays there's so many aisles of different types of dolls that I think Barbie had to find a way to get attention again.

COSTELLO: Well, she certainly has found it, hasn't she?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, now she's gotten a little skanky, sure. Everybody wants to...

(CROSSTALK)

COSTELLO: Skanky Barbie. You know, maybe this doll will be more for adults than kids.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know what they're saying in the catalog? That it's for ages 14 and up.

COSTELLO: Oh...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right. I don't see too many 22 year olds playing with Barbie dolls. COSTELLO: Ages 14 and up?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, Bert, how, I mean I know that you went out and bought one yesterday. How was... BERT: Well, with the new ensemble it's, I'm so small it actually fits me.

COSTELLO: Oh, my gosh. Hey, Bert, I understand that you just had a baby? BERT: Yes, we did. Hayden (ph) came into the world six weeks early. We had absolutely nothing prepared for him. But he's still in the hospital and...

COSTELLO: Well, you have that new Barbie now.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Maybe that's what we should put in his crib.

COSTELLO: Just imagine the toys that will be available by the time Hayden's, oh, six or seven.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don't even want to think about it. I really don't.

COSTELLO: You know, that's got to be scary for parents because the kids are going to be looking through that FAO Schwarz catalog...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, sure.

COSTELLO: They're going to like zero in on that Barbie and say mommy, can I have a "Lingerie Barbie?" And mommy's going to look at that and say what is up with that?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You really do have to pay attention now to what your kids are -- I mean even if they're flipping through an FAO Schwarz catalog, you know?

COSTELLO: Well, let me throw this at you. Have you been in Victoria's Secret lately?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Of course.

COSTELLO: Of course? I mean do you notice the age of the girls in that store?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know, it's funny that you said that.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Because we were talking about this just a couple of weeks ago. Stacey and I were at Baby Gap picking up some clothes for, at that point it was our unborn child. But they have Body Gap there now that sells lingerie. And we were behind three girls that were no older than 14, 12, 13, 14 years old, all had thongs, lacy bras and they were seriously 14, 13 years old.

COSTELLO: So maybe, you know, the makers of Barbie are just tapping into a market that's out there.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I hope you're wrong, I really do.

COSTELLO: And me, too.

Hey, thanks, "Bert Show."

We appreciate your joining us and we'll catch you again next week.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: All right.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK, Carol. See you next week.

COSTELLO: See you.
