CHAD MYERS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Warm day in Richmond, Virginia today, as well.
CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: It's always warm where Jimmy Barrett is, isn't it? Yes, it's time for the Talk of CNN this morning.

And this morning we're talking to Jimmy Barrett of WRVA News Radio 1140 in Richmond, Virginia about sports, because, you know, you were the play by play guy for, what, the Detroit Lions?

JIMMY BARRETT, WRVA RADIO CORRESPONDENT: Hello. And Chad Myers in Atlanta, of course, we're here in Richmond, Virginia.

MYERS: Morning, Jimmy.

BARRETT: Good morning, people.

COSTELLO: Good morning. How are you this morning?

BARRETT: Very well, thank you.

By the way, I must observe here, do you have a fashion coordinator at CNN?

COSTELLO: No.

BARRETT: OK. I think purple and brown, I'm sorry.

MYERS: Yes, it didn't work, did it?

BARRETT: Oh, that man, I'll tell you what, that is hard on my eyes this morning.

MYERS: I'm sorry, James.

BARRETT: That's OK.

COSTELLO: Well, your blue shirt's lovely.

BARRETT: Well, we've got the rainbow colors all here, don't we? We've got it all together.

COSTELLO: Oh, yes, Jimmy. That's what I was thinking.

BARRETT: I've got some winners this morning to pass along. How about those Minnesota Twins?

COSTELLO: Oh, the Cinderella team of baseball.

MYERS: We're going to win, Twins. We're going to score.

BARRETT: It's unbelievable. Here's the team that was going to be a victim of contraction. They were going to bury the Minnesota Twins.

MYERS: Right.

BARRETT: Here's a team that plays inside of the Homerdome (ph), where the right field wall is made out of Hefty trash can liners.

MYERS: It sure looks like it.

BARRETT: Yes, and they win their division. They, a big, big upset over the Oakland As. They're moving on in the American League championship series. Angels beat the Yankees, another big upset.

MYERS: Yes, how about the Yankees being out of the playoffs first game?

COSTELLO: Oh, can you believe that? I actually watched that game, Jimmy. The Yankees looked bad, so many errors.

BARRETT: Well, here's what's amazing. It's amazing to me that the Yankees are successful as often as they are. Well, George Steinbrenner has one of the better teams that baseball can buy. But that doesn't mean that you're always motivated to win the pennant. So I'm glad to see somebody else in there. And, of course, we have one more participant to determine tonight, and that's the Braves playing the Giants at the Ted and...

COSTELLO: Oh, yes, you've got to feel sorry for poor Tom Glavin. He allowed seven hits and seven runs in three innings.

BARRETT: Well, you know, Tommy Glavin is not the youngest pitcher in major league baseball these days. And it, I don't know. I don't know about you guys, but I really enjoy seeing different teams participate every year. So I think that's fine.

COSTELLO: Yes, me, too.

BARRETT: All right...

COSTELLO: Oh, yes, why not?

Do you want to talk a little football, because there were a couple of exciting games this weekend?

BARRETT: Well, there were a couple of exciting games. I'll tell you what, I don't know if we have our play of the week, but if we don't, let me just describe this, because I don't know about you guys, but I love to watch big guys make plays. And it occurred in the Tampa Bay game against Atlanta. By the way, Tampa Bay won that game by a score of 20-6. Warren Sapp (ph) just got in the face of Doug Johnson and snatched the ball and that lateraled it to his teammate Derrick Brooks, and he took it in for the score. So you got 20-6 the final there.

COSTELLO: Oh, poor Atlanta. They were hoping for such good things from Michael Vick and it just hasn't happened yet.

BARRETT: I think, you know, with most rookie quarterbacks, two steps forward, one step back sometimes.

COSTELLO: Yes, one giant step back. The Raiders and the Bills game was pretty exciting.

BARRETT: Yes, it was a great game. Let's talk about a little bit about the Raiders game. They are the only undefeated team left in the National Football League. Rich Gannon passed for three touchdowns. Here's one of them right here, 357 yards passing for Rich Gannon. Drew Bledsoe for Buffalo passed for 417 yards. That's 774 total passing yards. You know, I really thought this probably...

MYERS: I guess you've got to go with the overs on that one, huh?

BARRETT: Oh, man. I really thought it was going to be Buffalo's day, though. Jerry Rice dropped three passes yesterday.

COSTELLO: Oh, lordy.

BARRETT: When's the last time Jerry Rice dropped three passes in a game? One of them, he was wide open for a touchdown and he just dropped the ball. But...

COSTELLO: Unbelievable.

BARRETT: And, you know, coming out, the best coming out party yesterday, let'/s give that, to Patrick Ramsey, the quarterback for the Washington Redskins.

COSTELLO: Say who? Who the heck is that?

MYERS: Wow.

BARRETT: Rookie from Tulane, 23 years old, comes off the bench. Danny Wuerffel gets hurt on the first series. The first series he gets hurt. But here's a little sample of Patrick Ramsey. I'll tell you what, he showed a lot of composure for a rookie. (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

MYERS: I could have made that pass, though.

BARRETT: Well, that's true. But anyway. And the Tennessee Titans. What happened to the Tennessee Titans? They've lost five out of the last seven at home. That was a 31-14 final yesterday.

MYERS: That's good coverage there, too.

COSTELLO: Wow. That's also for the Redskins, too. Now there'll be even more of a quarterback controversy. But, of course, Steve Spurrier kind of likes that kind of stuff. He likes to switch up quarterbacks. BARRETT: Well, he never sticks was anybody for long. So Patrick Ramsey's job is only there as long as he continues to perform. That's the way he is.

COSTELLO: Yes.

MYERS: But isn't that like in radio and TV, as well?

BARRETT: Hey, don't remind me of that. It's getting close to contract renewal time.

By the way, one last thing. Break out those paper bags in St. Louis. The Rams lost again. It was 37-13 to San Francisco.

COSTELLO: 0 and 5.

BARRETT: The Cincinnati Bangles also winless.

COSTELLO: Unbelievable.

MYERS: Wow.

COSTELLO: Thank you, Jimmy Barrett. We've got to let you go.

BARRETT: Bye-bye.

COSTELLO: Jimmy Barrett, WRVA News Radio 1140 in Richmond.

BARRETT: See you later, there you are.

Carol Costello and Chad Myers.
