CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: One of the nation's few women serial killers is scheduled to die today by lethal injection. That should happen in just a couple of hours. Talking about Aileen Wuornos who killed six men in Florida in 1989 and 1990.
Reporter Lori Aragon of affiliate WTLV is near Starke, Florida with the story -- good morning.

LORI ARAGON, WTLV-TV REPORTER: Good morning, Carol.

You're right, in just about three hours, serial killer Aileen Wuornos is scheduled to die by lethal injection here at the Florida State Prison. We understand that she has refused visits by any clergy member but that she has spent quite a bit of time reading the Bible overnight. Also, she refused to eat her last meal, which was a traditional southern cooked meal of barbecued chicken. She hasn't had anything to eat, we understand, since noon yesterday.

Now a few minutes ago, I spoke with a Department of Corrections spokesperson, Sterling Ivy (ph). He said that she was visited by a very close family friend last night between 9:00 and 12:00 and that she was in very good spirits after that visit, that she was very talkative.

We understand that she got up around 5:30 this morning, that she's been given the opportunity to shower and that she plans to wear long black pants and a short sleeved white shirt for her lethal injection shot. We also understand that for the drug to take effect that it could take between five to seven minutes and that she will be given the opportunity to make a statement before she is given the drug. Depending upon how long that statement lasts is how long will determine her time of death pretty much, Carol.

We're live here near Starke. I'm Lori Aragon.

COSTELLO: Lori, will any of Wuornos' victims' family members be witnessing this execution?

ARAGON: Victims' family members will be witnessing this execution. We understand there will be 24 witnesses in all, 12 of them will be media representatives, 12 of them, some of them will be victims' family members and the others will be members who took part in the trial. None of them will be relatives of Ms. Wuornos.

COSTELLO: All right. Thank you very much, Lori Aragon, from affiliate WTLV, reporting live near Starke, Florida this morning.
