DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Has a sniper struck again? Seeing live pictures now, courtesy of our affiliate WUSA. Manassas, Virginia, the site of the latest shooting, perhaps connected to the sniper that has taken place over the last week. As you can see, police very carefully searching for any clues that a sniper, if indeed this was his work, would have left behind.
With more on that part of the story, and what has happened overnight with this latest shooting, let's bring in Patty Davis who is in Prince William County -- Patty, hello.

PATTY DAVIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: ... is scheduled for some time this morning. The murdered man identified as 53-year-old Dean Harold Myers of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Now, investigators are combing the scene yet today, looking for evidence. They say they still do not know if this shooting was another shooting associated with that sniper who has been responsible, they believe, for eight other shootings over the past week. A witness says that he heard a single shot, and another person reported that they saw a white van, perhaps a Dodge Caravan with paneled sides, meaning that there were only windows for the driver and then the passenger on that van leaving the scene.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The state police is in an assistance mode on the case.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The only information we have on a possible vehicle was a white minivan, described as panel vehicle, meaning it had only front passenger windows. The rest was solid. We do not know about the back windows.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The state police is in an assistance mode on the case, and Prince William County Police is the primary agency at the point. As far as the question about I-66, yes, we did shut all the ramps immediately. Because of the relative closeness to Interstate 66, and certainly we began stopping white vans the second that was put out.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DAVIS: Police say that witnesses did not get a license plate number or even a partial license plate number on that van. They're not even positive that that van was connected. The next press conference here scheduled for about 1:00 Eastern time, and we're hoping that we'll be able to hear more from police, perhaps, at that time. They will know whether the bullet that killed this 53-year-old man is connected. Back to you, Daryn.

KAGAN: All right, Patty Davis, thank you so much.
