MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: We've had some breaking news for you this morning, want to tell you a little bit more about that bomb blast that we just told you about a few minutes ago in Moscow outside a McDonald's restaurant. The southern part of the city. A car bomb, apparently, exploded -- there are some reports that this is terrorist activity. I suppose a car bomb might be prima facie evidence of that. No indications as to what the motivation or the suspects might be -- no one indicating credit for this bomb blast.
The McDonald's restaurant there is frequented by a mixed crowd of Westerners as well as Russians, and clearly -- an obviously Western U.S. target.

Police are calling the bomb homemade, whatever that means. It happened in Southwestern Moscow, we know that at least one person is dead, at least two are injured. One of those injuries a five year old child. We will be watching this very closely.

The police department is saying somewhat enigmatically that there were purely criminal traits related to this blast, and thus perhaps dampening the thought that there was some sort of terrorist organization behind it. All this is very preliminary and sketchy, and we're going to try to nail down some more details for you -- we'll keep you posted on it as the morning progresses.
