CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: And you could almost hear the sigh of relief coming from Washington, D.C. as details of the arrest began to spread.
Want to go now to our Washington deputy bureau chief, Steve Redisch, who has more on what's ahead for these suspects.

Good morning -- Steve.

STEVE REDISCH, CNN WASHINGTON DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF: Good morning -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Well this lengthy legal process has just begun, hasn't it?

REDISCH: And that's the next step. If you noticed, Chief Moose was very, very careful, as were all the other officials, not to say that they had the snipers or they'd let the evidence speak for themselves. And they presented the evidence link that they believe it was the snipers and that's why -- where prosecutors will pick up today in determining where the next steps are as far as prosecuting these people. Seven different jurisdictional groups will be meeting today in Montgomery County to figure out what the next step is and who gets to prosecute these people first.

COSTELLO: Yes, we're going to have our legal analyst on a little bit later to talk more about that.

President Bush did call Chief Moose, right?

REDISCH: He certainly did to give him his congratulations and to give him a nice that a boy pat on the back.

COSTELLO: Well I bet -- I bet Chief Moose appreciated that.

REDISCH: I -- and from what I can tell from last night's news conference by Chief Moose, I think he was very, very aware of the teamwork that was involved and made sure that all the credit was given out to everybody on the task force. I don't think he -- he may have accepted it for the -- for the rest of the team.

COSTELLO: Yes, he was very emotional, too.

Steve Redisch, I know you have a lot to do today so we'll let you go.

REDISCH: Take care. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com
