CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Iraq does remain a huge subject in Washington. We want to find out what else, though, is going on, on Capitol Hill today.
And joining us on the phone is our Washington deputy bureau chief, Steve Redisch.

Good morning -- Steve.

STEVE REDISCH, CNN WASHINGTON DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF: Good morning, Carol.

COSTELLO: What's on President Bush's agenda today?

REDISCH: Not a whole lot. He is staying at the White House today. It is now six days until Election Day. We may hear from him later this afternoon regarding some domestic issues, but for the most part, his schedule is pretty clear.

COSTELLO: Somebody must be discussing Iraq somewhere on Capitol Hill today.

REDISCH: Well, Capitol Hill, there's nobody up on Capitol Hill. Everybody is gone to campaign for the midterm elections. There is not much talk about Iraq on an official basis. There are, of course, the backroom talks, and it is a topic over at the White House.

COSTELLO: Well, I guess I was specifically thinking about that B-2 Stealth bomber that we're going to get a look at.

REDISCH: We are going to get a look specifically at it, and specifically CNN is going to get a look at it today. Jamie McIntyre, our senior military correspondent, is going to fly with the tanker that refuels the B-2, from Andrews to Whiteman back to Andrews, Whiteman Air Force Base being the base where the B-2 is housed in Missouri.

And we shall hear from Jamie sometime today live from Whiteman Air Force Base, and he'll give us a real good, close-up look at the B- 2, which will probably be the workhorse of the early days of whatever action the United States may take against Iraq.

COSTELLO: Understand. And the hearings go on as to what caused the crash of American Airlines Flight 587.

REDISCH: Yes. More hearings. They're still looking into the crash. We got some animation yesterday as to what might have happened in the crash, and we heard some more cockpit recordings from the two pilots. And we'll get some more testimony today as to what might have caused it.

COSTELLO: It will be interesting. Thank you very much, Steve Redisch. We'll let you get on down to the Washington bureau, and we'll talk to you again tomorrow.
