CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Now to the sniper case, another twist reveals yet another victim. Police in Atlanta say a shooing outside of a liquor store has been linked to John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo. An Ethiopian immigrant was killed in September, and ballistics tests match bullets in that shooting to a handgun used the next day in a fatal shooting outside of an Alabama liquor store.
And there is more new information on the sniper suspects this morning. For that, let's check in with Paul Courson, our Washington morning producer.

So, Paul, Virginia prosecutors appear to be moving towards death penalty cases against the sniper suspects, right?

PAUL COURSON, CNN WASHINGTON MORNING PRODUCER: Prosecutors in Virginia have both said that's how they're preparing their case -- that capital punishment is suited for these folks. One said it's reserved for the worst of the worst, and if these folks qualify. The case, of course, is in two different locations: Prince William County and Fairfax County, Virginia.

And Virginia, by the way, Carol, ranks only behind Texas in the number of executions it carries out. It also has no problems executing minors if they are convicted of capital crime.

The 17-year-old John Lee Malvo has a court date this afternoon, Carol, in Fairfax County, Virginia. He's accused in the death of Linda Franklin, the former FBI -- the late FBI analyst.

COSTELLO: Right.

COURSON: And then, John Allen Muhammad is facing a court date this morning out in Prince William County.

COSTELLO: Gotcha. I wanted to ask you more about this "Washington Post" article, because they interviewed one of Muhammad's ex-wives, the one that's been in hiding. And there are many interesting things in this article.

COURSON: Mildred Muhammad, she kept his name, probably stuck with some bad memories, too. Married to him for 12 years, had three kids by him. She says that when he came back from a Persian Gulf deployment, he came back an angry, quiet man, and that he had been terribly humiliated while in the Persian Gulf.

"The Washington Post" has the story, said he came back, having been tied up during a gas drill -- a gas alert in the Persian Gulf, and his troops didn't give him a gas mask. And then they told him later it was a drill. That's what the newspaper is saying this morning.

COSTELLO: Yes, said he made a fool of them, and he came back from the Gulf War with a dual personality. Go online and read the article folks, because it's really interesting.

Thank you, Paul. We'll let you get back to work.
