CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: New England's first snow and ice storm of the season has knocked out power to tens of thousands and turned roads into skating rinks.
Mark Ericson and Danielle Carrier, better known as the WOKQ Waking Crew in Portsmouth and Manchester, New Hampshire on the phone right now.

We brought in Chad because I know you want the latest weather update.

CHAD MYERS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, guys.

MARK ERICSON, WOKQ RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: Good morning.

MYERS: Yes, power to the station, I guess, huh?

ERICSON: We always have power here. We make our won anyways, so.

MYERS: That's good.

COSTELLO: They just talk a lot and the hot air flows.

ERICSON: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. And, Chad, I have to tell you, Danielle thinks you look all spiffy this morning.

DANIELLE CARRIER, WOKQ RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: You look very woofty (ph).

MYERS: You know, I couldn't just put on that shirt and tie and think oh, it's, you know, it's 14 below zero somewhere and make that look like it's normal so I thought I'd wear this.

CARRIER: It's very suave.

MYERS: Thank you. Thank you.

COSTELLO: Hey, what is the weather like up there?

CARRIER: Cold.

ERICSON: Well, it depends on where you are. It's pretty much cold everywhere. We've got, some parts of the state are under a winter weather advisory. Those are the places that right now are having sort of a mixed bag of rain and sleet. And largely what's happening there is you're hitting wet piles of leaves on the road and that's just as bad as ice.

MYERS: Whoa, absolutely.

CARRIER: There's leaves and pine needles all over the place.

ERICSON: And then other parts of New Hampshire have got snow coming down. We've got icy conditions. It's not as bad as Connecticut. You had some video from Connecticut earlier this morning and the State of Maine also getting hit a little bit rougher with some icing conditions right now.

COSTELLO: What is going on? Isn't it early for this kind of thing, even in that part of the country?

CARRIER: No, October was early. We had snowfall in October.

MYERS: Yes, exactly.

CARRIER: Before Halloween. That just didn't seem right.

ERICSON: And, Chad, as you know, last year we had kind of a mild winter and believe it or not some places are coming up a little short on inventory of snow tires. Everybody hit all the snow places, the tire places, rather, this weekend.

MYERS: Wow. Sure.

ERICSON: And inventory is a little tight.

CARRIER: I just stayed home.

MYERS: It could you were watching football.

CARRIER: I'm not driving in that.

MYERS: Exactly.

CARRIER: I'm staying home.

MYERS: Hey, you know, I've got the radar up for you guys. I can show it to you, what's going on here. Most of the snow is now up into Vermont. Boston's changed over to rain. You guys all the way down to about Nashua changed over to rain. But there is still some sleet mixing in at times. That's that pink stuff. And Burlington, Vermont just checked in with seven inches of snow on the ground.

CARRIER: Wow.

ERICSON: Yikes.

MYERS: Yes, so it's still coming down up there. I'm sure at Killington all the folks up there are jumping up and down. Anybody who's getting a Burton board for Christmas is also happy at all that stuff.

CARRIER: No kidding. ERICSON: And ski areas in Maine opened up this weekend, as well.

MYERS: Yes, good. All right. Well, you know, if you've got to get in it, you might as well go play in it.

CARRIER: That's right. Exactly.

COSTELLO: Hey, thanks...

CARRIER: I want a snowman.

COSTELLO: Thank you, guys. Keep warm, OK?

CARRIER: You, too.

ERICSON: Thanks, Carol.

MYERS: Thanks a lot, guys.
