CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: That's right he's back, Bond, James Bond. It is the London premiere of "Die Another Day," the latest in the long-running spy series.
And we're heading to London now for our rendezvous with our own smooth and debonair correspondent Quest, Richard Quest.

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Oh, you beat me to it. I was about too say exactly the same thing, suave, elegant, sophisticated, you know, all the things that James Bond is that perhaps the rest of us could only aspire to.

Indeed, "Die Another Day" has its Royal premiere in London tonight. Appears Brosnan playing Bond for the fourth time. He said, incidentally, that he will be play a fifth time.

And there's controvacy (ph) even before the film is out on the streets. It's because James Bond goes back to smoking in "Die Another Day." No, no cigarettes in this one, but Carol, he starts smoking cigars. He extols the virtues of a good Havana Cuban cigar. That will certainly get the White House up in arms I'm quite sure about that. But the fact is it is Bond. It's the 20th official movie.

Carol, there is more trivia about Bond than you could ever possibly shake a martini, because, after all, it's got to be shaken not stirred. I thought it was quite good, actually, for this time of day.

COSTELLO: You crack me up. Hey, was the movie good?

QUEST: If I told you that, Carol, I'd have to do something nasty.

COSTELLO: Oh, I think that means it wasn't good. Are people in London really into the James Bond flick?

QUEST: No, no, actually...

COSTELLO: What?

QUEST: Yes, basically means I haven't seen it. I was being polite and debonair and obscure. No, the movie comes out tonight. The premiere is tonight in front of the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh. It actually opens in London in a couple of day's time. We're hoping to get a sneak preview.

I think the big difference, because what Pierce Brosnan has done with the Bond movies, Roger Moore was very much a bit of a lull, although they were good but not brilliant. Timothy Dalton never quite hit his stride as Bond and generally is regarded as the recent lull of the Bond era. But Pierce Brosnan has managed to put a bit of political correctness in. He's given it a bit of an edge. It's not just about bedding large numbers of very beautiful women and saying the name is Bond, James Bond, and that sort of thing. It's also more -- I mean "The World is not Enough," you know, he kills the woman right at the end in cold blood while M's watching. So it's all a bit more earthy, a bit more real. Of course if a -- if a movie where you blow up so many things, drive so many cars and have so much promiscuous sex can ever be earthy.

COSTELLO: Earthy is the word of the day. Hey, I'd thought you'd get a sneak peak at the movie earlier, but apparently not. I wanted to ask you though about the gadgets, because I know you have a sneak peak for us in that department.

QUEST: Indeed. In just an hour's time on "AMERICAN MORNING WITH PAULA ZAHN" I'll be taking you to the science exhibition here in London. We'll see the gadgets. You'll see the alligator that James Bond rode in. You'll see the hats, the cars and most important of course those watches that can be a drill, a saw, a bullet. We'll talk about them all in about an hour's time.

Now, as I say, if I tell you any more before then, I'll have to do something nasty.

COSTELLO: Oh, Richard, you make me laugh. And that's good because I need to laugh this morning.

Richard Quest, thank you. I'm sure everybody will join you on "AMERICAN MORNING."
