DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: One of two convicts who escaped from a Kentucky detention center is again in police custody at this hour. Police captured 21-year-old Brandon Basham, in Ashland, Kentucky. Basham and Chadrick Fulks escaped from a Western Kentucky prison just two weeks ago.
Our Charles Molineaux is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. That is where the two are suspected in a kidnapping. This one, of course, crossing many different state lines.
Charles, hello.
CHARLES O'BRIEN: MOLINEAUX, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Yes, and, Daryn, while we've got some potentially dramatic developments, the fact of the matter is this woman is still missing, this is the Wal-Mart parking lot in Conway, South Carolina, where she disappeared, 44-year- old Alice Donovan was last seen last Thursday. When she was here Christmas shocking, she was carjacked and vanished.
Now the two men who were allegedly responsible for this have been all over the place. They actually started out breaking out of jail in western Kentucky, then apparently went into -- into Indiana, got as far north as the Gary area, then back down here to South Carolina, they're accused of breaking into a house, shooting at a man, and then carjacking and kidnapping Alice Donovan.
The word that we have is that on Sunday night Brandon Basham, the 21-year-old, was allegedly involved in a carjacking in Ashland, Kentucky, apparently out in the cold and turned himself in Sunday night.
However, the other alleged kidnapper involved in this, Chadrick Fulks, he's 25. He is still on the loose, and apparently was involved in a high-speed chase in Ohio. That one happened last night. Meanwhile, the fact is Alice Donovan is still missing. She was here in the parking lot, and was carjacked. Now, the FBI says the incident was captured on surveillance video, taken here in the parking. They say the video is potentially very valuable evidence.
You can look up at the top of the building and actually see the very small camera pointing down at the lot. According to the FBI, the video is chilling, and they're very concerned about her safety. This case has taken on a very high priority, because she is still missing. It has now been five days, and a very worrisome point is the fact that these men are accused of carjacking and kidnapping somebody in Kentucky, and what they are accused of doing was taking them over into Indiana, and then leaving them into some woods, tied up to a tree overnight. He was there for 16 hours, and managed to free himself from the duct tape and electric wire that he was tied up with.
But the police say he was very lucky, and they were very concerned with the cold weather we have been having here, that something similar might have happened to Alice Donovan. The fact is that they don't know.
Now the one man who is still apparently on the loose, Chadrick Fulks, has a long history of allegations against him and warrants against him. He is accused of fraud, credit card abuse, impersonating an FBI agent, as well as robbery and theft, and what has happened over the course of this crime spree since November 2nd -- 4th, rather when they supposedly broke out of the jail in Kentucky, is that the violence level involved has been ratcheting up.
The crimes of which they were accused and the crime for which Brandon Bashem was originally doing jail were nonviolent, but then they had this kidnapping at knife point, then they had this shooting at this house, and then of course the kidnapping of Alice Donovan. A lot of concern about the level of violence involved in the case and her welfare at this point. The good news is that we do have the one apparently suspect has been apprehended in Kentucky. The not so good news is that Alice Donovan is still missing, and the other man, Chadrick Fulks, is also still apparently on the loose -- Daryn, Leon.
KAGAN: Charles Molineaux, a lot to cover there. Thank you.
