LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: One-half of a pair of escaped inmates has surrendered to police in Ashland, Kentucky. The other half, well, he's still out there on the run, and he's the object of a manhunt this morning.
The two were suspected in a crime spree across several states that includes at least two abductions.

CNN's Charles Molineaux is covering this story for us this morning. He's in Conway, South Carolina -- Charles.

CHARLES MOLINEAUX, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Leon, the victim of one of those abductions is still missing. She was actually kidnapped out of the parking lot at this Wal-Mart in Conway, South Carolina; 44-year- old Alice Donovan was kidnapped on Thursday, November 14th as she was Christmas shopping here at the Wal-Mart. She was carjacked out of the parking lot and the abductors got away with her and her Blue BMW. That incident was actually caught by the store's surveillance cameras. One FBI agent I talked to said he has seen the tape, and it is chilling.

The good news is the capture of one of the suspected kidnappers. 21-year-old Branden Basham. Police say he was involved in another carjacking in Ashland, Kentucky Sunday night, and that's when he reportedly turned himself in. The other half of this duo is still on the loose. He is 25-year-old Chadrick Fulks. He is suspected of being involved in a high-speed chase in Ohio last night. Now, the cops there ended up in pursuit of a stolen BMW, but whoever was driving it got away. The FBI says he's got the much longer rap sheet, and had a smorgasbord of outstanding warrants on him before this began.

The FBI says Fulks and Basham broke out of jail in Hopkins County, Kentucky, back on November 4th, and carjacked and kidnapped one man at knife point and left him tied to a tree in Indiana. He managed to free himself. Then the two went up to northern Indiana, and came to South Carolina, where police say they shot at a man who caught them burglarizing a house and stole a truck and came over to Wal-Mart and kidnapped Alice Donovan.

Investigators have been worried about her safety, because the level of violence in this case has been picking up, from the nonviolent crimes they were originally locked up to the carjacking, and shooting at somebody. Also, the fact that the earlier victim back in Kentucky had been tied up and left out in the woods. FBI agents say he was lucky to escape. They're worried about Alice Donovan being left out in the elements somewhere. Now this morning, we talked to Alice Donovan's husband. He said he's been in contact with the police and the FBI, and they've been encouraging and some encouraging events had been happening overnight, but at this point, she is still missing, and that second suspect Chadrick Fulks is still on the loose -- Leon, Daryn.

HARRIS: Any idea or word on whether or not Basham has been talking since he's been captured?

MOLINEAUX: No word on that at all. Investigators have actually been very tight-lipped about it. For example, the FBI has been reluctant even to confirm he was in fact, captured. Police here in Conway, South Carolina, say, however, that they do believe the two have moved out of this immediate area. Beyond that, not a whole lot of detail coming out.

HARRIS: All right. Charles Molineaux, thank you. Stay on top of that one, and get back to us when you hear something.

Charles Molineaux, Conway, South Carolina.
