CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We are covering a lot of breaking news from all parts of the world this morning, and our international desk is on top of it all with correspondents in place to cover it all. Our international editor David Clinch is here.
DAVID CLINCH, CNN INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Yes, good morning.

COSTELLO: You are so busy this morning.

CLINCH: I'm feeling somewhat under appreciated this morning, or at least the desk. We are everywhere today. And I wanted to talk about the fact that, you know, we've covered this breaking news overnight of another suicide bombing in Israel. And we've talked about this before. We're not just there on the story, but we're there in the way we want to be there. We have two reporters in Jerusalem. Other networks are so committed to other stories, they don't even have one. We've got to have two because we've got to be there at the scene. We've also got to be available to go elsewhere if we now have an Israeli military reaction.

We also have to make sure we tell the story of, as Jerrold was saying there, the horror of the attack, not just have political people come on air and talk immediately about the political consequences. And I think, I'm biased, but I think we did a good job today. I think Jerrold's doing a great job.

But we're also elsewhere, and, again, it's not a coincidence. We're in Kuwait. We have people in Kuwait. There were two U.S. soldiers seriously injured in an attack there. We have a reporter, Kevin Sites there. We have a reporter there all the time at the moment, watching for things like this, preparing for possible military action in Iraq. We need to be there.

COSTELLO: And I must say after we had word that two soldiers were shot, Kevin was ready and on that...

CLINCH: Yes, and we got it very quickly because we have people there and they have a relationship with the U.S. military and they're very quick to get confirmation on things like that.

The same in Lebanon, we have a U.S. and American missionary killed there today. We don't know yet if it's terrorism, but, again, we have a bureau in Beirut, in Lebanon. We're there all the time. We're able to get confirmation on these stories. We're able to be live on the story very quickly.

We're also, where else are we? COSTELLO: London, Spain.

CLINCH: We're in Baghdad, we're in Prague, we're in London on this Princess Ann thing. All of these things take planning. Whole sections of our desk are involved in planning and looking forward to these things. An amazing amount of resources that we have to dedicate to these stories, the important ones, and the less important ones. We're even going to be live again later in the day on the Michael Jackson story.

COSTELLO: Oh, no.

CLINCH: He's getting, as I promised you, an award later in the day. We hope to be live for that event later in the day.

So all of these things, the most serious and the less serious, take planning, forethought and then obviously great aggression on behalf of our reports in the field.

COSTELLO: Well, they certainly did a terrific job this morning.

CLINCH: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: And David Clinch, I'm going to let you get back to your desk because I know you want to.

CLINCH: Thank you.

COSTELLO: Thanks, David.
