CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: CNN's Maria Hinojosa is at New York's LaGuardia Airport to tell us how the weather is affecting travelers there.
What's it like there -- Maria?

MARIA HINOJOSA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, you know what, Catherine? Actually, the weather, what we've heard so far here in New York, is not going to be a big problem. But you just got to figure that it's, what, 6:00 in the morning for us? Here, it feels like it's more like 5:00 in the afternoon.

Take a look at these lines. I mean, we have been here since about 5:00 in the morning, and these lines really picked up starting at about 4:30. And there's kind of an ebb and flow of these lines. Within a few minutes, suddenly you'll have, you know, a huge, long line, and then it will kind of move. We are hearing that that's because they've got a lot of extra people on hand to make that happen.

Last year, 40 percent less traffic in this airport than this year, so there is a big difference here.

We are seeing so far no cancellations or just very few, but not because of the weather here in New York. We're hearing that perhaps the weather someplace else -- cancellations to Boston, Toronto, Columbus.

But the mood here, I've got to tell you, it feels pretty good. I mean, I've seen a lot of pilots and flight attendants who were coming up the staircases with huge smiles on their faces. This is going to be a rough day in New York City. It's going to be rough in terms of anybody who is out there traveling. But I think a lot of people are feeling good that perhaps they've worked through this year of what they didn't do last year...

CALLAWAY: Right.

HINOJOSA: ... and not travel. And this year, they want to go and find that comfort with their families, and we've got great comfort food -- Catherine.

CALLAWAY: All right, it's good news for the airlines, Maria. We're going to check back in with you a little bit later on. Stay there, OK? I know you want to go home, but stay there for us. That's Maria Hinojosa at LaGuardia.
