CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's talk sports now. Chris Cotter from "790 The Zone" is here with us as usual on Monday morning. And let's talk about Joey Harrington first, because I am a Detroit Lions fan.
CHRIS COTTER, "790 THE ZONE": I know.

COSTELLO: But this is really bizarre. Joey Harrington, a young guy, 25, is rushed off the field because of an irregular heartbeat.

COTTER: Yes.

COSTELLO: You don't hear that very often.

COTTER: No, you don't, and it is very strange. But, you know, it just brings back memories of guys like Greg Gathers, or Hank Gathers, rather, who was injured while playing for Loyola, Marymount, a basketball player, several years ago, about a dozen years ago, and actually died on the court with a heart ailment. So any time you have a situation like that, they're going to take a lot of precautions, and that was the case with Harrington.

COSTELLO: Yes. His heart rate went up to 200 beats per minute. The norm is 50 to 60 beats per minute. And he may be out for the next two games. So I'm sure...

COTTER: Well, keep him out, you know what I mean? The Lions aren't going anywhere, so just sit him out. He's had a great rookie season and, you know, Marty Mornhinweg, the Lion's head coach, should just let it go with him and let him sit for the rest of the year.

COSTELLO: Yes, so he stays safe and healthy and all of that.

COTTER: Yes.

COSTELLO: A lot of exciting football this weekend, though. Miami and Oakland, let's start there.

COTTER: There was. That was the biggest game in the NFL yesterday. Forget about just the AFC, Miami and Oakland. And it was a case of Oakland coming in being red hot, but so was Miami, riding on Ricky Williams' legs these last couple of weeks.

COSTELLO: He's amazing.

COTTER: But the femur there with a great touchdown pass in Miami gets it done really defensively as opposed to offensively, holding Oakland, the NFL's most prolific offense, in check yesterday.

COSTELLO: Awesome. Denver-Kansas City.

COTTER: This was a game for Denver. Denver was struggling mightily coming into this thing and Kansas City trying to stay in the play-off while Denver trying to hang on. A couple of great plays in this game. Look at that run right there, Clinton Portis had 131 yards in the game.

COSTELLO: Look at this.

COTTER: He didn't score a touchdown. Kansas City some shoddy tackling there, come on.

COSTELLO: Oh.

COTTER: Mess the guy up. You want to go to the playoffs.

COSTELLO: Exactly.

COTTER: This one goes right down to the wire, too. Here's the last play of the game.

COSTELLO: Wow.

COTTER: Follows it up.

COSTELLO: Oh.

COTTER: Now we saw, last week we saw that play work for Cleveland...

COSTELLO: Cleveland, yes.

COTTER: Not this week for Kansas City, as Denver gets the win. They keep themselves in playoff contention.

COSTELLO: Yes, but the Jets...

COTTER: But the Jets, you know what? Every single week, Carol, it's like we talk about different teams. Last week we said oh, the Jets got a huge win, they're right back in it. Well, then they completely disappoint their fans yesterday going into Chicago and taking the loss. And this one goes right down to the last minute, as well. As you'll see, Wayne Chrebet here trying to make a big play and fumbles the football and Chicago picks it up. Look at that, three guys converge on him.

COSTELLO: Holy cow!

COTTER: Coming down, loses the ball, Chicago gets it, the Jets lose. They're still in playoff contention, but now they're in that mix again. They could have separated themselves with a win yesterday.

COSTELLO: That just makes it more exciting.

Chris Cotter, thanks so much.

COTTER: OK, thank you for having me.

COSTELLO: We'll see you again on Friday.

COTTER: Cool.
