CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We're talking a lot about Trent Lott this morning. Let's see how people in Washington, D.C. feel about the Senate Republican leader's latest apology.
Judlyne Lily from WTOP Radio News in Washington, D.C. joins us live by phone.

Good morning.

JUDLYNE LILY, WTOP RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: Good morning, Carol.

COSTELLO: I know you often have viewers call into the station. What are they saying this morning?

LILY: We had about 30 callers so far call us on the WTOP talk back line. And about, they were about half and half at first. Some of them wanted us to move on. Others said he should go. More seem to be leaning now towards him stepping down from his leadership position, but not from the Senate.

Now, some others, other callers who identified themselves as African-Americans say we should move on. He's apologized enough, so let's get on with it.

COSTELLO: Do you get the sense that they think President Bush has said enough about this issue?

LILY: Yes, but no. The sense is is that President Bush has done what he's going to do on this and it is up to the Senate to decide what they should do about Trent Lott.

COSTELLO: Got you.

Judilyne Lily, thanks for the insight this morning, we appreciate it, from Washington, D.C.
