FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Iraq is driving our news gathering from the International Desk, and senior editor David Clinch is back with us to talk a little bit more about how we are fanned out.
(CROSSTALK)

DAVID CLINCH, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Yes, we are. Good morning again. And we're really paying very close attention on the Iraq story today. We'll be listening to the Iraqis in a press conference at 10:00 a.m. We'll be listening to Hans Blix. We'll be listening to Colin Powell.

One of the things that we need to sort of think ahead on -- Rym Brahimi in Baghdad and others helping us on this -- to work out exactly what the Iraqi options are, and so far what we're hearing, you know, following this UN declaration or reaction to the declaration today. And it seems to be a mixture between cooperation and prevarication, basically.

We expect them to hand over this list of scientists that they've been asked to hand over, but then perhaps balk at the suggestion that they should actually hand over the scientists themselves to go out of the country.

WHITFIELD: For those interviews.

CLINCH: We expect them to say, well, you didn't tell us exactly what details you wanted in this thing, come back to us again and we'll try and see if we can perhaps find some more details and try to take time over that.

And again, this is stuff that the Iraqis and that the U.S. are telling us. I'm not just making this up. We're being told by the Iraqi officials, you didn't tell us what you needed with detail; we'll try and find more for you.

And finally, they are taunting the Americans with the idea that if they have intelligence, they should hand it over. And the more they taunt, the more the Americans are under pressure to hand over that intelligence.

WHITFIELD: All right, thanks very much, David.

CLINCH: OK.
