CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: We're going to shift our focus now overseas. And CNN's international desk will be covering a number of stories, as they do every day.
Senior international editor David Clinch here to tell us about it -- David, good morning.

DAVID CLINCH, CNN INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Good morning, Catherine.

CALLAWAY: We've been talking a lot about the Iraqi government this morning...

CLINCH: Yes.

CALLAWAY: ... saying come on over and show us where these weapons are.

CLINCH: Yes, well, the United States has said that it is going to start supplying intelligence to the United Nations. The Iraqis trying to make it really easy for them and saying well, why don't you bring the CIA over to Iraq and look for yourselves. I don't think it's very likely that that's going to happen, but an example of the kind of rhetoric we're seeing from Baghdad on a continuous basis.

Less on rhetoric, though, and really on an important point, they did, the Iraqis, say that they will hand over this list of Iraqi scientists that the U.N. has demanded to see from them. The U.N. and the U.S. obviously interested in interviewing those scientists. The key point, though, remains to be see, when they do hand that list over before the end of the month whether they will allow or accept or what they will do if the U.N. wants to bring any of those scientists outside of the country. So that's the next sort of date that we're looking for, the end of this months for that list to be handed over.

We are, in terms of our coverage of the story, filing a piece today, as you saw from Alessio Vinci, about U.S. troops preparing for chemical warfare or nuclear warfare.

CALLAWAY: Right.

CLINCH: And the fact is that if U.S. troops do go into battle here, it's going to be under two circumstances. Either they find no smoking gun and the U.S. decides to go on its on, which is going to be very messy in the first place. Or they find a smoking gun, Iraq does have weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. goes in with its allies. If the Iraqis are caught red-handed with these weapons, you have to think that increases the likelihood of them being used. So, and then one other story, North Korea, we're covering, as well. I'll come back later on and talk more about that.

CALLAWAY: Yes, let's talk about that. It's interest, removing that surveillance equipment the U.N. has put there.

CLINCH: Right. We'll talk a little bit more in detail in the next hour, but it's a tough story for us to cover.

CALLAWAY: Yes, really.

CLINCH: But it has to be covered and...

CALLAWAY: Yes, it does.

CLINCH: It's very important so.

CALLAWAY: All right, we'll see you in a little bit.

CLINCH: I'll come back in a bit.

CALLAWAY: All right, thanks.

CLINCH: OK.
