CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: Well if you or someone close to you is heading to the airport this morning to catch that pre-Christmas flight, listen up, we're going to check in now with Travelocity's air expert Rally Caparas -- hey.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Good morning -- Catherine.

CALLAWAY: How's it looking out there in this -- oh, my goodness.

CAPARAS: Well it's not looking that bad. We're only talking to 500 airplanes this morning air traffic control wise.

CALLAWAY: That's not a lot.

CAPARAS: On Friday we saw somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 at this time of the morning. It's not going to be a bad travel day at all, folks. We saw some very lengthy delays Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday we saw excellent conditions for air travelers and drivers for that matter. But now we go back into the busy week. It's not going to be nearly as busy as it usually would be on a -- on a Monday for business travelers. There aren't going to be many of those.

But here's how it's going to break down for you today if you're traveling around the country. If you're headed into or out of the Northeast, the only airports of any concern are Newark and LaGuardia today. They're delay free at the moment. However, the clear skies won't mean a whole lot later on as the strong gusting winds kick in. That means 30 to 45 minute arrival delays if those winds persist. And I'd probably -- I'd bet on the fact that they're going to persist. Expect that to last into the late evening hours.

Over in the Great Lakes region -- excuse me. Chicago, O'Hare Airport, the Windy City, they'll see wind related delays also from the strong westerly wind. Thirty-minute arrival delays for most of the day there.

Down in Texas.

Too much celebrating.

Down in Texas, Houston and George Bush -- I'm sorry, Houston's George Bush and Dallas-Fort Worth airports, they will see 30 to 45 minute arrival delays all day long. Low clouds, marine -- I'm sorry, not marine layer fog, but regular fog. Some thunderstorm activity will be limiting the available flight routes into and out of those two major airports, so keep that in mind as you get to the airport. Be patient, grab some coffee and once again, make another friend in the airport for this stay.

And then finally out West, Seattle, Tacoma Airport, the only one of any concern is some low clouds, marine layer fog. They see that typically almost every single day. It's going to mean 15 to 30 minutes extra time in the air as you hold, and it should burn off by noon for on time schedules thereafter.

Not a bad travel day overall though -- Catherine.

CALLAWAY: I tell you what, those thunderstorms can make for a bumpy ride though. I had that coming back from Denver and we left early and go there late.

CAPARAS: Well...

CALLAWAY: Not a lot of fun.

CAPARAS: ... excellent point. Keep your seatbelts fastened if you're traveling today. The wind related delays up in the Northeast and in Chicago, it makes it very, very bumpy.

CALLAWAY: Yes.

CAPARAS: A little scary, but believe me, the pilots have it under control.

CALLAWAY: OK.

CAPARAS: It's going to be a little rough landing and rough on the takeoff.

CALLAWAY: Thank you, Rally. See you later.

CAPARAS: All right.
