LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Some of the best movies showing aren't among those top-grossing films out there now.
Joining us now with his preview of five movies you should not miss this holiday season are Russ Weatherman, Mr. Moviefone. He joins us from Los Angeles.

Good morning. How's it going?

RUSS LEATHERMAN, "MR. MOVIEFONE": It's going well. How are you doing, Leon?

HARRIS: Hey, I'm doing great. I want to see what you say here on the movies, that no matter what happens, we absolutely have to go see, starting with "Chicago."

LEATHERMAN: "Chicago's" one of my favorite movies of the holidays. The nice thing about the holidays is the fact that you get all of these great movies coming out. Catherine Zeta-Jones is great, Renee Zellwegger is great. Richard Gere, he bugs for about the first ten minutes, but then even he's good. So this is a feel-good movie. This is one of those movies you go to for the holidays and you're glad you saw it, you're glad you spent the nine bucks. Go see "Chicago."

HARRIS: Even if you're a Richard Gere fan.

LEATHERMAN: Even if you're a Richard Gere fan, that's right.

HARRIS: I actually like Jack Nicholson, and this movie that he's in, "About Schmidt," this one actually like pretty good. Did you see that one, too?

LEATHERMAN: Reporter: I did. It's really a great movie. So Nicholson does a spectacular job, you know. He was nominated for the Golden Globe, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nominated for an Oscar, and maybe wins it. This is Jack at his best. It's a great story. And I think moviegoers should definitely go see this.

Now, it's harder to find, because it's not in that many theaters. These movies, you should search them out and definitely go see them.

HARRIS: OK. Oscar potential here. Interesting.

How about "Catch Me If You Can?" This one has been promoted quite heavily lately?

LEATHERMAN: Well, it is. It's one of the DiCaprio movies with Tom Hanks. This, again, is one of the more feel-good movies of the holiday season. It's a nice caper movie. It's directed by Steven Spielberg. He does a really good job. And the movie's really a lot of fun. It's about a guy who changes identities, and becomes a pilot, and a doctor, et cetera, et cetera. But you walk away from the theater thinking, you know what, this was fun, I'm glad I went to see this movie, so I definitely recommend seeing this one, too.

HARRIS: All right, actually that one does sound pretty good to me, too.

But I must confess, I had never seen or heard of this one, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind."

LEATHERMAN: You know, this is one of those little movies that is out there that you're going to have to search out, but have to go see it. It's a story of Chuck Barris. I don't know if you remember "The Gong Show" host, who was just a whacked out kind of guy.

HARRIS: He was a nut, yes.

LEATHERMAN: This is the story of his life and how he believes he was actually a CIA operative, and when he going on his game show -- or on his "Gong Show," and newlywed game deals, he was actually spying for the CIA. So who knows whether it's true or not. All we know is, this is man crazy, and it's totally a fun movie to watch. George Clooney directed it. It was his first. He did a really good job.

So again, it's not in that many theaters, but if you get a chance, go see this movie.

HARRIS: Some spy he turned out to be, the only thing he found was Gene Gene (ph) The Dancing Machine.

OK, how about the last one here, "The Hours?"

LEATHERMAN: Well, "The Hours" this is the movie that everybody's talking about, in fact they're talking about Oscar nominations for Julianne Moore, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman. It's based on three different short stories, and it's pretty serious movie fare. You know, it's one of those movies that you have to be in the frame of mind to go see.

But again, it's another one of those really great end-of-year movies that you might have to search out a little bit, but definitely worth seeing.

HARRIS: Yes, OK. That one looks a little tender, but might actually be...

LEATHERMAN: Not too tender for you, Leon.

HARRIS: You sure? OK.

LEATHERMAN: Come on.

HARRIS: All right. Well, you got me on at least three of these, all right. You convinced me.

Thanks, Russ.

LEATHERMAN: All right, see you next time.

Have a great holiday.

HARRIS: You, too, man.
