LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: British police have arrested for suspects in connection with the discovery of a deadly ricin poison in a London apartment, and some of those arrested earlier appeared in court today.
CNN's Nic Robertson joins us live from London. He's got an update on the terrorism investigation.

Hello, Nic.

NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Leon.

Well, those latest arrests happening about 19 miles southwest of London, at a normally sleepy seaside resort town. Now those arrests took place late Sunday night. Police arrested five men and one woman that are currently being held under the year 2000 terrorism act here.

Meanwhile, as you say, four of the seven men arrested in north and east London last week with the discover of the deadly toxin ricin did appear in court, and for the first time in Britain, someone has been charged, these four men, have been charged under the 1996 Chemical Weapons Act. They've been charged with either developing or producing a chemical weapon. They've also been charged under the year 2000 Terrorism Act for having equipment or items that could be of value to terrorists.

So the charges against four members of the seven-man group now happening. The hearings took place in a central London magistrate's court. They took less than half an hour for the hearing. The men really, all they did was confirm their names and addresses. They will again be appearing in court later in the week on Friday -- Leon.

HARRIS: Thanks, Nic. We'll be watching to see what happens then.

Nic Robertson, live in London.
