DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We get back to the awards and talking about the Golden Globe Awards, and as Leon mentioned, we have with us Russ Leatherman, Mr. Moviephone.
Welcome back.

RUSS LEATHERMAN, "MR. MOVIEPHONE": I think I should be on the payroll.

KAGAN: We can take it out of Leon's paycheck. He'll sign that paycheck.

Let's talk awards. I was there, in heels. You were watching on the couch in your jammies. Something's wrong with this picture. There you go. Kathy Bates, she was nominated from "About Schmidt." We talked about that on Friday, did not win.

LEATHERMAN: No, she didn't win, but what a great actress.

And let me also say, I mentioned this earlier, but you looked so great. You weren't trying to outdo the stars. You looked perfect for the occasion, and I thought you did a great job.

KAGAN: That's really sweet. I appreciate that very much.

Big, big night for "Chicago." We were there in Beverly Hills, but really the city of the night was "Chicago." "Chicago," "Chicago," winning for best musical or comedy. We see Catherine Zeta Jones there. Renee Zellweger actually won that category, and Richard Gere.

LEATHERMAN: Renee, she was perfect. And it's so great that the movie was recognized as much as it was, because now, maybe it will go into more theaters, more people can see it, it will go wider and wider.

There's Richard Gere with his hour and a half acceptance speech. I think it was longer than "Chicago," I'm pretty sure.

KAGAN: On the drama side, the story was "The Hours." Now, when you talk about distribution, that is a movie that a lot of people have had trouble seeing, unless you're in a big city like New York or Los Angeles. It's hard to find.

LEATHERMAN: It really has. A lot of these movies, it's hard to find. And "The Hours" is such a powerful movie that if people get the chance, they should get out and see it for sure.

KAGAN: You liked it? You didn't think it was kind of a chick flick?

LEATHERMAN: I was in with the wrong crowd, for sure, but I could appreciate it for sure, and I thought it was amazingly well done, and the actresses were terrific, and again, you hope that more people now have more access to these movies so they can go and see them.

KAGAN: And we should point out, that's Nicole Kidman, with the fake nose, and there's the Nicole we know, who also won last night for best actress in a drama.

LEATHERMAN: You know, you listen to the acceptance speeches, and you think, who has prepared this? Who hasn't? Who's genuine? Who's not? I really appreciated what she had to say. I think she's a terrific actress. She's really come through in the last couple years in flying colors, and she really did a great job.

KAGAN: She has. I think there's a lot of people out there that are rooting for Nicole Kidman.

Let's talk a little Golden Globe history. Jack Nicholson now has more Golden Globes than any actor in history. He has six, after he won last night for "About Schmidt."

LEATHERMAN: Well, he was great. He was just great in this movie. If you haven't seen "About Schmidt," you absolutely have to go see this movie. Kathy Bates was terrific. We talked about that. And it's one of those movies you just hope that moviegoers will go out and support. They're so used to seeing Jack in a certain way. He really lets go a lot of those Jack-isms, and does an absolutely spectacular performance, so I really would recommend that moviegoers go check this one out. I mean, he has a great chance at the Oscar.

KAGAN: Well, we mentioned that Kathy Bates actually does a nude scene in "About Schmidt." I had a chance to talk with her on the red carpet, and I said, how was that? And she said, you know, it was a surprise to her that's what she was going to be doing, but it doesn't that bad in the end, and she agreed, how bad is it to get into a hot tub with Jack Nicholson?

(CROSSTALK)

LEATHERMAN: I think it's bad. For me, it's not so good. But how brave of her to do that, how brave of her to really kind of just kind of let it fly and do that, and she did it for the movie, which just turned out to be great. I loved it.

KAGAN: We often come to you just to find out which movies are worthwhile seeing, so as people are starting to look at this and look forward to Oscars, because the nominations will be out relatively soon, which of these movies that won last night and won bid, do you think are worthwhile going to see?

LEATHERMAN: Well, everybody will love "Chicago." Hard to find anything wrong with "Chicago," again, except for the first 15 minutes of Richard Gere.

KAGAN: Leave Richard Gere alone.

LEATHERMAN: "Gangs of New York," fantastic movie. Thank God Martin Scorcese finally won an award last night. You know, that's a great movie. It's in scope. It's really terrific. I like "Adaptation" with Nick Cage, I thought that was good.

KAGAN: Chris Cooper won last night, and Meryl Steep won as well.

LEATHERMAN: Right, so you know, a lot of these movies, they're now getting the exposure to where maybe they'll put them in more theaters, and more people can go see them, because there's so many great movies just jammed into the tail end of the year, that If You ask 90 percent of the people out there, they haven't seen any of these movies.

So now, you know they're good, go see them.

KAGAN: Go see them, and we'll talk more about that.
