CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Now we're going to talk about the actual game. Chris Cotter of "790 The Zone" is here to talk about that.
And what a bust. It was a bust. It was boring.

CHRIS COTTER, "790 THE ZONE": It was.

COSTELLO: It wasn't the greatest match up in the history of football.

COTTER: Yes, I know. Well, it was a good match up. It's just that...

COSTELLO: It wasn't a good match up.

COTTER: ... Tampa Bay threw the defense. If you can have one or the other, you can have the best offense or the best defense, well, I'll take the best defense. And Tampa Bay proved that that is a winning formula right there.

COSTELLO: Yes, it proved it again and again and again and again. You know, those five interceptions, they proved it.

COTTER: Let me ask you this. Would you watch the game, from a woman's perspective, without knowing that you were going to see all these commercials that were supposed to be funny that really weren't, with the exception of the couple, and without the horribly contrived entertainment that they throw in there that makes the game last four and a half hours?

COSTELLO: Yes, well I love football. Yes, I would.

COTTER: Right. Do you think most women would watch the game anyways, because it's an event?

COSTELLO: I'd like to say yes.

COTTER: I think they would.

COSTELLO: I think they would, too.

COTTER: I think they would, too.

COSTELLO: And can we just talk for a moment about Shania Twain? She was lip synching, yes? COTTER: Well, like I said, first of all, look at the lineup that they had. Do we even need to go into that? I mean let's -- this is about a football game, for crying out loud. Even a bad football game I'd rather watch than the lineup of talent that they had. Like I said...

COSTELLO: You don't like Shania Twain?

COTTER: Contrived.

COSTELLO: Oh, yes.

COTTER: As plan vanilla as you can get.

COSTELLO: Her outfit was interesting, don't you think?

COTTER: Well, she has to make it interesting. And I think that's, keep in mind, they're appealing to women, trying to maybe get more women to watch the game and stay in tune with the game. But Shania Twain? I mean let's face it, who are they appealing to?

COSTELLO: Yes, she -- well, I think with Shania Twain to men. But I think with Gwen Stefani, women really love Gwen.

COTTER: Really?

COSTELLO: And Sting.

COTTER: See, I happen to think musically Sting and Gwen Stefani better than anybody else out there by far.

COSTELLO: No. Gwen is like girl power.

COTTER: Oh, I love Gwen Stefani. Yes. You see, I think a lot of guys like Gwen Stefani.

COSTELLO: OK.

We've got to talk about the football part.

COTTER: A lot of guys like football, too, you know what? But they were disappointed. After half time, once you got to the half of that game, a lot of guys were disappointed. I was, watching that game. I mean there was nothing going on. It was all defense...

COSTELLO: Well, let's just talk about the future, then. Jon Gruden, Chuckie, as I like to call him, I mean Oakland gave up a lot when they got rid of Gruden...

COTTER: They did. And Oakland's going to benefit from it. There's no doubt about it, the draft choices that they get over the next three years for him and the money, as well, over the next three years. I mean they're going to definitely reap the rewards. So don't be surprised if you see Oakland or Tampa Bay back in the Super Bowl. I mean Oakland's a little older with Gannon at 38, Jerry Rice at 40, Tim Brown's at 37. I mean they're getting up there in age. Bill Ramonowski isn't very young, Charles Woodson. But I mean they're going to be back, I think, because these draft choices are going to help them stay young, much like Dallas did when Dallas built in the whole Hershel Walker deal 15 years ago, Dallas built with draft choices and that's what Oakland's going to do.

So they're going to bounce back. Maybe not year, but in the next couple of years they'll be back. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, awesome.

COSTELLO: You know what I really wanted to hear? Al Davis's diatribe up in his little private box when Tampa pulled, pulled, pulled away.

COTTER: You know, Al Davis said that win or lose, he was going to be very, very gracious and quiet. He didn't want a parade if they won, that's what he said, in Oakland. So, you know, he's sticking by what he said before, he's not going to talk, and that's fine by us.

COSTELLO: Yes.

COTTER: I'm sure.

COSTELLO: I want to hear the private ruminations. Anyway...

COTTER: Hey, how about, this defense was so good, though.

COSTELLO: We've got go to.

COTTER: We do?

COSTELLO: We do. I'm so sorry. You talked too much about Shania Twain.

COTTER: I know. And see, I fell into my own trap.

COSTELLO: I know.

Chris Cotter, many thanks to you.
