CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: For more on the investigation now, we turn to CNN's Daryn Kagan. She is live at the Kennedy Space Center. Fill us in from your perspective -- Daryn.
DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Carol, I want to talk about paying respects to the astronauts. We saw a lot of that happening right here at Kennedy Space Center all over the weekend. There's a visitor center that's about five miles from where I stand at the media center. People came to pay their respects.

Now, already at the center is an astronaut's memorial. It's a large granite wall that has the names of 17 astronauts who have already lost their lives in service to the space mission. That's etched upon that wall. Unfortunately, of course, seven more will need to be added to that. That is where people came to pay their respects here in Florida yesterday.

Another thing we need to talk about. Ilan Ramon, the Israeli astronaut, of course being Jewish. This all happened in the middle of the Jewish Sabbath, and according to the Jewish faith, you don't mourn during the Sabbath. So, services to commemorate that were held until after the Sabbath was over. And what you're looking at now is some video of a synagogue in Melbourne, Florida, not too far, about 40 miles from Kennedy Space Center, that were held yesterday.

Another concern for the Ramon family, according to Jewish faith, ideally you would like to bury the dead within 24 hours of the death. Of course, that is not going to be possible given what has taken place, but of great concern, especially in the case of Ilan Ramon to take care of those remains and turn them over to the family as soon as possible.

Carol -- back to you.

COSTELLO: Yes, and we understand that Israel is sending a rabbi to help with the identification of Ramon's remains. Daryn Kagan, many thanks to you.
