PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Time to go to Kuwait, where U.S. forces are training for desert war. That's where we find Bill Hemmer this morning.
Good morning -- Bill. Boy, you have no idea what you're missing here this morning.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Hey, so I understand. No snow here, sunny skies, but a lot of wind, too.

Listen, Saudi Arabia is that way, Paula. Iraq is that way about 12 miles. We are deep in the Kuwaiti desert at a live-fire range. It's called Range No. 7. Not an easy place to get to. I'll show you some videotape here.

Our crew of seven here at CNN had to go over some rough and rugged road, two hours off the main highway, Highway 80 that travels north and south through Kuwait.

The Army has allowed us to come back here, giving us complete access to this firing range, one of 10, by the way, where the Army and the Marines conduct exercises really on a 24-hour basis day and night.

We can show you now the camera location here, Paula, from up above. This range is enormous, just one range right now, two kilometers, about a mile-and-a-half in length. And what they do out here is impressive.

Over the next three hours, we'll show you the M1-A1 tanks, the Bradley fighting vehicles, how they evacuate a wounded soldier in the battlefield. All of that and a lot more moments away here in Kuwait.

Paula -- back to you now in snowy New York City.

ZAHN: Oh, believe me, you've never seen it this way before, Bill. We'll take little pictures for you outside the studio. See you in a little bit.
