CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: OK, back to Turkey now. We've got our bugs worked out. We want to go live there to Jane Arraf, who's in Ankara.
And, Jane, we were talking about when Turkey might make its decision on whether to allow U.S. troops to come on into Turkey. Will that decision come down today?

JANE ARRAF, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Probably not, Carol. But there will be some sort of statement today. Now, Turkey has made quite clear it's going to make this decision in its own time, ships or no ships off the Turkish coast with combat troops waiting to land. Now, what's happening today is another flurry of consultations between the American ambassador in Ankara, who's taking along some visiting congressmen. He's been seeing the prime minister. There are other talks going on with the foreign ministry. And some time today the Turkish prime minister says he will make a statement about the state of play.

Now, where that appears to be is that he is expected to announce that the government will ask parliament to vote on this when it reconvenes after the weekend, an indication that the government feels confident that it can support this package, but not a total certainty that parliament will approve it -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Jane Arraf reporting live from Ankara, Turkey this morning.
