CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's talk Turkey now. U.S. warships are just a stone's throw away from the shores of Turkey. The troops are bobbing around out there just waiting. Some kind of decision was supposed to be made there today as to whether those troops can come on into Turkey.
So, we take you live now to Ankara, Turkey, and Jane Arraf.

Good morning again -- Jane. So, no decision today, you think?

JANE ARRAF, CNN BAGHDAD BUREAU CHIEF: No, Carol. It looks like those U.S. troops are going to have to hang out just a couple of days more at least.

Now, what's happened is that the ruling Justice and Development Party has had its party meeting before the formal session of parliament (UNINTELLIGIBLE) about an hour. Their leader has told them he wants to be able to discuss this proposal in depth, and that they will meet at another time to discuss it.

So, essentially, as it stands, the government has signed off on it, the cabinet has sent the legislation to parliament, but they just do not have the political support yet in parliament to ensure that when this vote does come, it will be a vote to approve the measures. So, they are intending to discuss this further to get more political support, and to debate it when they have that support -- Carol.

COSTELLO: OK, I'm sure you'll keep us posted. Jane Arraf reporting live from Ankara, Turkey this morning.
