DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Want to bring you the latest on the bus bombing in Israel. Our latest numbers show that 15 people were killed or wounded, perhaps dozens more wounded. Police in the northern Israeli city of Haifa say that a Palestinian suicide bomber carried out the attack. Many of the passengers were students on their way to the university.
Right now, we want to bring in on the scene Danny Kufler (ph), assistant Israeli police commander.

Commander, thank you for joining us today.

DANNY KUFLER (ph), ASST. ISRAELI POLICE COMMANDER: Yes.

KAGAN: Can you tell me...

KUFLER (ph): I can hear you.

KAGAN: Can you tell me the latest about what has taken place in Haifa, please?

KUFLER (ph): Around 2:00 a bomb exploded on a bus. We still don't know if it's -- if it's a suicide bomber, or just a bag. We are still searching for remains. We'll know in a couple of hours.

Still, we have 15 people killed and more than 50 wounded, some of them very badly.

KAGAN: We're getting word that a lot of the people on this bus were students on their way to Haifa University.

KUFLER (ph): Yes, they were youngsters of their age of 15 to 20, a bit more on the way, I assume, on the way to the Haifa University to study, and they were unfortunate on the way.

KAGAN: Has anybody claimed responsibility at this point, sir?

KUFLER (ph): I can't hear you.

KAGAN: Has anybody claimed responsibility?

KUFLER (ph): What did you ask? Please ask again?

KAGAN: Yes. Has anybody claimed responsibility?

KUFLER (ph): No, not yet. As far as I know, not yet. KAGAN: And in terms of Haifa, this has been a two-month lull since there's any been any suicide bombers in Israel. What about in the city of Haifa?

KUFLER (ph): City of Haifa, we had already two buses exploded here, but a year ago. So we had peaceful time in Haifa. And still this -- this a bit spoils the delight in Haifa.

KAGAN: Absolutely. Bringing to the end of a to-month lull in bombings in Israel. And as the police commander telling us, two-year lull in Haifa.

Thank you for the latest on that, sir, and bringing us the latest information.

KUFLER (ph): Thank you, and good evening. Thank you.
