CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: It hasn't been -- it has not been very friendly in the skies. It's been snowing, the weather's been lousy and that usually means travel delays. What I'm trying to say, let's get Rally Caparas, our "Eye on the Sky," on the phone right now and ask him about flight delays.
Good morning -- Rally.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Good morning, Carol. Yes, you're exactly right, it's nasty all over the place, especially up in the Northeast today.

If you're headed in to the major airports, Boston, New York City Metropolitan area or Philadelphia today, you're going to experience 45-minute arrival and departure delays just early in the day. It'll begin late this morning and then it will end some time around mid- afternoon. There'll be plenty of snow, ice, departure flight de- icing, poor airport surface visibility. But as I said, it should improve in time for the evening rush hour, which is good news.

The D.C. Metros, they'll see 30-minute arrival delays as a result of low clouds, rain and fog. That poor visibility will force those delays. But there again, they will improve by the mid-afternoon hours for on time schedules this evening.

Charlotte and Atlanta, we've seen plenty of storm activity roll through here over the last 12 hours or so, expect 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays into and out of those major airports. Thunderstorm activity, rain and reduced airport surface visibility are the problems, but we will see improvement in the early afternoon hours.

So we've got a bad first half of the day and then the second half should be pretty decent throughout the nation, Carol. I'll be back in the studios with you tomorrow. Have a great one.

COSTELLO: You too, and we'll look forward to the second half of the day. Rally Caparas, our "Eye on the Sky."
