Hans Blix Announces He Will Turn Over Document Next Week

HANS BLIX, CHIEF U.N. WEAPONS INSPECTOR: ...week we declassified document called a cluster document which contains an analysis of all the under soldiers using various clusters. And there were some reference to that today. There was no criticism whatever of the document. I think it was welcomed by all members of the Council. There was also a considerable interest in knowing when we could come back to the Council and present the work program, which we have to present under resolution 1284 and should be before the 27 of March.

I think I have made it public we would be ready with that document sometime next week, and I confirmed that to the Council today that sometime next week we will have that document. That document will, of course, contain what is called the key remain in disarmament task. And the cluster document lists about -- I think 29 clusters precisely, about the key remain cluster will be selected among those and will have them ready next week.

We do know what our college of the commissioners and the members and their views are, but we have to make the selection and define the criteria and then we will be ready next week. So many members of the Council are interested in this. Because they are talking about what would be expected of Iraq to do. And they would like to see them in precisely what we have in the inspection organization feel is necessary for Iraq to do.
