FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Troops from the 101st Airborne Division will likely play a key role in any military action against Iraq. Soldiers from the 101st are gearing up right now in Kuwait, and that's where our CNN's Ryan Chilcote is.
Hi -- Ryan.

RYAN CHILCOTE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello. Well a very concrete manifestation of that gearing up right here on the flight line, the 101st Airborne Division, Apache attack helicopters are now on the flight line, on the ground, ready to go at Camp Udairi. The AH-64 Apache attack helicopter you see behind me arrived here just yesterday. It flew in from a nearby port after a three-week trip on a ship from the port of Jacksonville, Florida. It made a very long trip here.

Another one of those ships is arriving today. That's the USS Bob Hope. Once the Bob Hope is in port and it has been unloaded, the 101st says it will have all of the equipment it needs for the initial phase of any kind of war in Iraq should the president ask for such an attack.

Now the 101st was the last division to deploy to Kuwait. This is serious stuff. The fact that they now will have their equipment means that the 101st and most of the other units here on the ground are ready to go and certainly will be ready to go long before that March 17 deadline -- Fredricka.

WHITFIELD: All right, Ryan, thank you for joining us via videophone.
