LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Our Jeff Flock, who is no ordinary reporter, who is out there sampling reaction. Let's go to him now in Chicago.
Hey, Jeff.

JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: As so we often do, want to give some voice to folks, what's on their mind.

What is on your mind? I want to quickly get to it.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I am opposed to war. I have been. But it seems like something is going to have to be done to remedy the situation in Iraq. And if it comes to some military action, I guess that's what's going to have to be done.

FLOCK: You still say no.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, positively no.

FLOCK: Why?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: War is not the answer. It's just not the answer. We can find other means to do this.

FLOCK: Has the president not made a case for a legitimate threat out there?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, he hasn't. Right now, he doesn't even have the backing of the U.N. And he's willing to go against the U.N. approval to go on with this war. Absolutely not. I'm against the war. And I don't think he has shown us sufficiently -- he contradicted himself last night. He said we're going to war; we're a peaceful people. It was crazy. It didn't make sense.

FLOCK: What about when American fighting men and women get in harm's way? Do you support the troops?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, but, I don't think they should just go, period. It should be an anti-war world.

FLOCK: Last word to you, Bob -- message to the troops?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, I wish them good luck, and Godspeed with this. I hope it's over as quickly as possible with as little blood shed as possible. FLOCK: I think everyone can agree on that. Folks, we appreciate your time. Thanks so much. Just a small sample offing the voice right now in America as war apparently moves forward.
