CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: You can certainly understand why the fear is building in Iraq, because President Bush's Iraqi deadline now stands at just under 14 hours.
We want to check in now with our White House correspondent, Chris Burns.

Good morning -- Chris. So, what will these 14 hours look like for President Bush?

CHRIS BURNS, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Well, Carol, the president does plan to meet with Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, as well as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, to talk about security, to talk about the possibility that there could be terror attacks in response to an attack on Iraq. That is a worry of the administration. That is one reason, one big reason why the threat alert has been raised to the second highest, to orange, after President Bush's speech. So, they will be talking about that.

President Bush also expected to be making more phone calls, as he did yesterday. He has spoken to President Putin of Russia and also the Chinese president about Iraq, about other issues. But this indicating that President Bush is trying to sort of perhaps mend fences, mend relations with these two countries that had promised to oppose and even perhaps veto that U.N. war resolution that was unsuccessful to put through.

So, President Bush looking ahead to try to put together more support after Saddam Hussein to try to rebuild Iraq once Saddam Hussein is toppled -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Chris Burns reporting live from Washington, D.C. this morning. Thanks to you.
