JUDY WOODRUFF, CNN ANCHOR: We want to go to one of CNN's reporters, Art Harris, who is with the 2nd Marines 3rd Battalion.
Art, we tried to go to you a little while ago. We were worried when we lost you. We're glad you're back. Tell us what's going on.

ART HARRIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: I have been watching for the last 25 minutes bombs falling on the Iraqi side of the border in northern Kuwait with the 2nd Marines.

The relentless bombing attack appeared fairly close to the border, and you could feel it, see the flashing lights, the explosions -- you could hear them -- bombs falling for a solid 10 minutes and then slowly moving to the west and to the north. You could not see the planes coming in, but you could see initially (UNINTELLIGIBLE), possible (UNINTELLIGIBLE) that they dropped to confuse enemy radar floating down before the bombs started falling, and then all of a sudden the horizon was lit up -- Judy.

WOODRUFF: Art, I also want to tell our viewers we're waiting for a White House briefing that's due to begin at the bottom of the hour in about three to four minutes from now.

Art, what about any artillery coming back in your direction -- out from Iraq, toward Kuwait? Art Harris, are you still with us? OK, it sounds like we've lost Art Harris.

But again, he was describing pretty much what we've heard now from several reporters, and that is heavy artillery barrage going from the Kuwait side of the border into Iraq. It's been going on for 10, 15, 20 minutes at a time; and clearly this military action is underway in Northern Kuwait and into Iraq.
