CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: You might expect President Bush to be happy about what's happening, apparently happening right now in Basra.
We want to go live to Washington now to Dana Bash.

And President Bush is going to sit down with Tony Blair at Camp David later today, right?

DANA BASH, CNN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: He sure is. It's going to be a very important meeting at Camp David.

But before that, he has another important trip, and that is to Tampa, Florida. The president is going to head down to visit Central Command and the troops that are there. That, of course, is where Tommy Franks, who is the commander of this military action, is based. And, of course, now he is in Doha, Qatar running the war for the president.

But the president will be going down to Central Command in Tampa, Florida. He will be meeting with troops. He will be having a couple of military briefings, and he will, of course, give a speech to rally the troops.

And we should expect to hear from him some similar comments that we've heard from him and some of his senior aides in the past few days, which is that he believes that the war is progressing well, but that he also believes that Americans need to understand that they need to be patient, and that this could be a longer war than perhaps some would have thought before. It's sort of managing expectations on the duration of this war.

But as you said, after that the president will come back and head to Camp David to meet with Tony Blair. The two men will sit down. They will talk. Tony Blair will be there overnight. They will also meet on Thursday.

But the two men will talk about war strategy, of course, but in addition, they will start to plan out the details of what will happen post-war Iraq. Tony Blair said in a press conference yesterday that he wanted to go over the reconstruction efforts, the post-Saddam government, sort of all of the details to what all of that would entail.

And also Tony Blair is very insistent on all of this going through the United Nations, so that will be something that the two men will certainly discuss -- Carol. COSTELLO: All right, and of course, we'll follow that. Dana Bash reporting live from Washington, D.C. this morning.
