Scott Peterson Arrested Friday in San Diego

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Scott Peterson is expected to be arraigned this afternoon, charged with murder in the deaths of his wife and baby son.
CNN's Mike Brooks is covering this much watched case. Let's check in with him now. He's in Modesto, California.
Mike, I understand that is where Peterson is in jail right now, correct?
MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: That's correct, Leon. This is the courthouse behind me, and attached to that is the Stanislaus County jail, where Scott Peterson sits in his six foot by nine foot jail cell, awaiting his arraignment later on today.
Now, yesterday, his family came out with a statement in support of their son Scott. They had this to say. "Our time of mourning and grief is compounded by the accusations made against Scott. We believe in his innocence, and he has our total and unwavering support."
Earlier this morning, Leon, we heard from Kelly Huston, who is a Stanislaus County spokesperson, who talked about how a trial like this can take its toll on both families.

KELLY HUSTON, STANISLAUS CO. CALIF. SHERIFF'S OFFICE: This is a difficult time not only for Laci Peterson's family, but Scott Peterson's family. As you can imagine, having your son facing capital murder charges is quite a shock, especially a shock to Scott in this particular case. He's not been in a custody facility. This is a really difficult tragedy for both these families to be dealing with, and they're going to be in for the long haul through the process of the court system here in California, and our hearts go out to both families. Despite any personal feelings anybody may have of guilt or innocence, this is a real tragic event for both families.

BROOKS: Now the arraignment is supposed to take place at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, Leon, and then tonight at 4:00 in the afternoon here Pacific Time, Laci's family will come out and hold a press conference here in Modesto, so that will be 4:00 Pacific, 7:00 p.m. Eastern, and we'll carry that live here on CNN -- Leon..
