PAUL BEGALA, CNN CO-HOST: I'm going to go to Chris Plante, who as the Pentagon right now -- CNN's Chris Plante with some breaking news -- Chris.
CHRIS PLANTE, CNN PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT: That's right.

U.S. officials now confirming that Tariq Aziz is in U.S. custody. That is the deputy prime minister of Iraq, one of the highest ranking officials in the regime of Saddam Hussein. For a long time, the face and voice of the regime. Now in U.S. custody. A lot of details still outstanding, but not clear whether he turned himself in or whether he was seized in a raid. A lot of these details still coming to light, but we can report right now, based on reporting from here and other beats in the city, that Tariq Aziz is, in fact, now in U.S. custody, probably the most important or certainly one of the most important regime members now in U.S. hands.

U.S., depending on, of course, a number of these regime officials to provide information regarding weapons of mass destruction programs and other important issues still outstanding after the invasion of Iraq.

Tariq Aziz now in U.S. custody.

ROBERT NOVAK, CNN CO-HOST: Thank you very much, Chris Plante.
