ARTHEL NEVILLE, CNN ANCHOR: And time now to check in with Travelocity's air travel expert Rally Caparas who has his "Eye on the Sky."
And, Rally, we need to know where the planes are flying on time and where are the delays.
RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Well, Arthel, I'll tell you what, yesterday turned out to be a really long day for a lot of folks in the Great Lakes region and on the East Coast. Those thunderstorms caused three and four-hour delays for people headed into and out of places like Chicago.
Today, things will start out a little differently. Boston, New York and Philadelphia, you'll be delay free very early and there will be some sporadic delays if you're headed westbound towards those regions. So don't be surprised if you get a 30 to 45, maybe even a 60-minute delay out of those airports going westbound early. But the normal will be 45 to 60-minute departure delays out of those airports going towards Detroit, Cleveland and St. Louis. Lots of thunderstorm activity is expected later on this afternoon.
The D.C. Metros this morning, you can expect 30 to 45-minute arrival delays early because of fog and poor visibility. Then that'll change over and thunderstorm activity will develop to the west of that region creating 45 to 60-minute departure delays headed westbound. Flight routes are going to be tough to come by, folks, so be patient today.
Miami and Fort Lauderdale, you'll see what your typical -- what's typical for you for this time of the year, 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays, scattered thunderstorm activity and limited flight routes there.
Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, the weather is going to start to build right over the top of you all today, expect 45 to 60-minute arrival and departure delays. You'll have local thunderstorm activity and very limited flight routes in that area.
Chicago O'Hare and Midway, the weather won't be nearly as bad as it was yesterday, as you see the weather starting to move to the east already. However, 45 to 60-minute arrival and departure delays, especially to and from the east, will be likely throughout the day as en route thunderstorms block routes there.
And then St. Louis Lambert Airport, things are OK right now, but 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays are likely beginning later this morning on into the afternoon and evening as thunderstorm activity wreak havoc throughout the east of the United States.
Arthel, back to you.
NEVILLE: All right, Rally, thank you very much.
