CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Before you head to the airport, hold on, Travelocity's air traffic expert Rally Caparas is here with his "Eye on the Sky."
A little windy today?

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Yes, you experienced it yourself. You were just telling me, a bumpy ride for you at Pittsburgh, huh?

COSTELLO: Yes, flying out of Pittsburgh, I'm telling you.

CAPARAS: Yes, well. You're going to see a lot of the same stuff today, a lot of bumpiness, a lot of wind and it's not going to be fun for those of you that suffer from motion sickness, so Dramamine, think about that. Dramamine and keep those seatbelts fastened.

Here's what's going to happen today, folks. If you're headed in to the airports up in the northeast, Boston and the New York City Metros, fortunately Newark's finally finished their transition to the new air traffic control tower so delays won't be a problem because of that.

But this morning, you'll see low clouds and fog, that'll be obscured visibility, 30 to 45-minute arrival delays early. The fog will leave and then strong gusting winds are going to kick in this afternoon and evening. It's going to keep those delays going, less than optimal runway situations at especially LaGuardia and Newark, so expect delays there.

Philadelphia, Miami and all the major airports in between, expect excellent flight conditions, on-time schedules all day long. Enjoy it while it lasts. You know it won't be very long before you'll see delays there again.

Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, some more of what Carol saw, very strong gusting winds. Early it's going to be low clouds, rain and some fog, but very strong gusting winds and 30 to 45-minute arrival delays for most of the day.

But Chicago, the Windy City, and Cincinnati-Covington will see most of the strong gusts today. They're already seeing 35, almost 40 naut winds this morning, and you can expect 45 to 60-minute arrival delays as a result. The runway configurations are very poor. The wind is coming out of the west. They both have their favorable runway configurations are north and south configurations. I won't get into that too technical, just expect hour-long delays into those two airports.

The western half of the United States, again, an excellent day, no more severe weather, at least for today. As Chad's been telling you, tomorrow could be a different story.

I'll be back in the morning with the latest from Travelocity's "Eye on the Sky." Carol, back to you.

COSTELLO: We look forward to it. Thank you, Rally.
